Death Stranding 2's PC port reportedly leaks through Steam, but at least the pirates playing it early aren't complaining about performance

Death Stranding 2's PC port has apparently leaked on Steam a few days before its official launch later this week.

Hideo Kojima's latest game, Death Stranding 2, is set to finally get a PC release this week on March 19, allowing more than just PS5 owners to experience one of the best games of 2025. The PC Port is set to add new features to the game, like ultrawide support, new live-action cutscenes, and a new difficulty mode to make things even harder (and the PS5 version is getting most of these too, don't worry). But some have gotten an early taste of the new changes.

As spotted by PC Gamer, the Steam preload for the game apparently provided unencrypted versions of the game files by mistake, and were up long enough for someone to download the 113GB game in full. The game features Steam's own DRM rather than a specialized option like Denuvo, which made the files easy for piracy experts to access, and as a result, people are playing the PC release of Death Stranding 2 right now.

PC Gamer notes that most of the discussion about the pirated port centers on the lack of a Russian-language voice-over, which is hopefully a good omen for the PC port's performance and quality. So those of you waiting until this Thursday for the official release hopefully needn't worry.

Although personally, I'm not really sure why you would want to play a pirated version of a game where a ton of the experience lies in its online functionality, which players of a pirated version would inevitably be locked out of.

Death Stranding 2 lead says Kojima Productions gambled on Horizon studio's Decima engine for "long hoped" for features.
