The Spider-Man: Brand New Day trailer may have given away a new character's mysterious identity – via its subtitles.
The character in question is Tramell Tillman, whose involvement in the new Marvel movie has remained a closely guarded secret. However, the trailer's subtitles may have given it all away, as they identify Tillman as 'Bill' when he's speaking off screen.
Previous rumors have suggested that the Severance star is playing William Metzger, an anti-mutant activist. In the comics, Metzger led the Anti-Mutant Militia and worked with the FBI on a project to create an anti-mutant weapon. That all came to an end, however, when Magneto killed him by flinging him into space. That'll do it.
"We are faced with a danger that we can't control," Tillman says in the trailer – something that could certainly apply to mutants.
"One that we can't even see," he continues, before the trailer cuts to a shot of a hooded figure with their back to the camera. Fans are convinced that this is Sadie Sink as Jean Grey, especially as the figure then raises their arms in a move that would imply they're about to deploy some serious telekinesis.
Just who Sink is playing in the movie remains under wraps, but Jean Grey, the most powerful member of the X-Men, has been the fan-favorite theory since her casting was announced back in March 2025. `
