Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 release date speculation: when is Culling Game Part 2 out?
As ever with anime, Jujutsu Kaisen season 4's unveiling comes bundled with plenty of questions. Officially, Toho has told us to 'Stay tuned for more updates,' but a glance at Jujutsu Kaisen's on-screen history (and the fact this is being marketed as a second part of an ongoing arc) at least gives us some idea of when Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 might release.
In my estimation, 2027 – particularly fall 2027 – is the most obvious landing point for Culling Game Part 2. Why? There is typically just over a two-year gap between one season ending and a new season beginning, but we're talking about a much shorter season this time.
With no projects such as the Jujutsu Kaisen 0 movie taking up MAPPA's time now (although I wouldn't mind them getting a start on Vinland Saga season 3…), there's plenty of space to get started and get another 12-episode cour ready for either then or early 2028. Just don't expect it this year. Sorry. If 2026 was a possibility, it would have probably been announced already.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 story: what manga chapters will Culling Game Part 2 adapt?
Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 will likely pick up chapter 181 of the manga, thanks to the third season definitively covering chapters 138-180 and the tail-end of the Sendai Colony fight with Yuta.

Culling Game Part 2 should adapt chapters 181-221, taking us to the very end of the Culling Game arc and towards the beginning of Jujutsu Kaisen's final arc, Shinjuju Showdown.
What does that mean for anime viewers? Well, we hesitate to go into spoiler territory (for obvious reasons – as major deaths and battles are very much Jujutsu Kaisen's selling point), the next part of the Culling Game will take us to new colonies and introduce us to fresh faces and high-concept battles. That even includes those who have their latent sorcerer abilities awakened, including budding manga author Charles Bernard. Kenjaku will also make their presence felt in one of the manga's more thrilling showdowns, though if the adaptation follows the manga beat by beat, Yuji will take more of a backseat this time until the end of the season.
As a refresher, the Culling Game is a country-wide battle royale that brings together sorcerers both modern and ancient (as well as newly awakened sorcerers) to seemingly bring about a large amount of Cursed Energy for series villain Kenjaku to utilize for his own ends. There are several rules to take into account, such as five points for a kill, but new regulations have been added, such as the ability to transfer points. Players on 100 points can also add new rules. Players must also gain points within 19 days, otherwise they will lose their cursed techniques. Confused? Don't worry, the actors behind the show say it's all OK and things will become clear as you watch.
The third season has also set things up nicely: Yuta has soundly defeated a trio of powerful sorcerers to pick up more points, while Megumi has unwittingly come into contact with Angel – the key figure needed to free Saturo Gojo and bring an end to Kenjaku's schemes and the Culling Game. Choso, as teased during the third season's closing montage, will also have a part to play in future proceedings.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 teaser
Jujutsu Kaisen episodes usually end with a taste of what's next. The third season's finale – the 59th episode in the entire run to date – only gave us three words: To be continued.
That complete lack of setup also extends to the 'teaser' we've been given: as shown by Toho on social media, all we have to go on is the Jujutsu Kaisen logo with text underneath saying 'The Culling Game Part 2'.
JUJUTSU KAISEN Season 3 Finale.Thank you for watching! The Culling Game continues. The story moves to Season 4 "The Culling Game Part 2."Stay tuned for more updates.#JJK #jujutsukaisen #TOHOanimation pic.twitter.com/hUh0guYkIvMarch 26, 2026
That's not to say we have no idea when teasers and trailers will be unveiled. While this year's AnimeJapan is almost certainly too early, we can look ahead to December's Jump Festa for a solid chance to glimpse the first key art from the new season.
From there, I'd expect 2027 to be the year where we're given a more substantial slice of footage – especially as MAPPA usually takes a couple of years to work on Jujutsu Kaisen seasons.
Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 cast: likely returnees for Culling Game Part 2
The Jujutsu Kaisen season 4 cast is still in flux, but Yuji, Yuta, Megumi, Choso, Angel, and Kenjaku are all part of the Culling Game's second part in the manga – and should return as normal here. There are also wildcards and newcomers, such as Charles Bernard, still to be cast.
The likely Culling Game Part 2 cast is as follows:
- Yuji Itadori – Junya Enoki/Adam McArthur
- Megumi Fushiguro – Yumi Uchida/Robbie Daymond
- Maki Zen'in – Mikaku Komatsu/Allegra Clark
- Choso – Daisuke Namikawa/Ray Chase

- Fumihiko Takaba – Satoshi Tsuruoka/Scott Whyte
