Xur, Destiny’s weekend Exotic trader, brewer of many a fine, illegally strong hooch, and frequent compiler of parkour fails videos, is back. This week, he’s over at the Tower Hangar, silently – but accurately – judging the paint-jobs on people’s ships as they fly in. But what’s he selling? This stuff. This stuff is what he’s selling:
• Patience and Time (Exotic Sniper Rifle) - 23 Strange Coins
• Immolation Fists (Exotic Titan Gauntlets) - 13 SC
• Crest of the Alpha Lupi (Exotic Hunter Chest Armour) - 13 SC
• Voidfang Vestments (Exotic Warlock Chest Armour) - 13 SC
• Legacy Exotic Engram (Helmet) - 29 SC
• Prototype (Truth Ornament) – 25 Silver Dust
• Iconoclast (Invective Ornament) – 25 Silver Dust
• Three of Coins – 7SC
• Glass Needle – 3SC
So what’s good? The Titans’ Immolation Fists are a pretty strong bet, giving the Explosive Pyre perk – which makes your Hammer of Sol chain kills together – for free, meaning that you can also add agility buffs or target tracking to your super. The Hunters’ Crest of Alpha Lupi is solid, if unspectacular and a bit specific in its use, speeding up revives – incoming and outgoing – making it a great support Exotic for co-op play, and a boon in the more hardcore, revive-based Crucible modes.
The Warlocks’ Voidfang Vestments are similarly limited but have potential with the right build. They ensure that you always spawn with full grenade energy – making them a big help in the Crucible, obviously – and add an extra seeker shot to the Axion Bolt grenade. Obviously that’s only useful if you use Axion Bolts, but if you do, and if you have your grenades tuned up to disperse meter energy elsewhere, then the Vestments could make for a pretty handy functionality booster.
As for the gun? Patience and Time has a couple of tasty key perks, granting both active camo and active radar when aiming down the sights. Alas, despite that, it’s not a great Crucible weapon, thanks to a huge base zoom range and limited reserve ammo. In PvE though, it makes a great, aggro-free support weapon for your team, so definitely consider it for your Vanguard activities.
As ever, Xur will be around until 10am UK / 2am PT on Sunday, at which point he’ll swan off for another week. Possibly on a swan. Sometimes he rides swans.
