Destiny's weekend merchant, Xur, is back this week and selling all kinds of Exotic bits in exchange for your hard-earned Strange Coins. This week you'll find him hanging out in Reef (obviously, after the April update), daring you to grab a cheeky Engram or to splash out on the bits of gear he's got in that long black coat. How is his selection this week? Hmm... let's take a look.
- Helm of Saint-14 (Exotic Titan helmet) – 13 Strange Coins
- Young Ahamkara's Spine (Exotic Hunter gauntlets) – 13 Strange Coins
- Starfire Protocol (Exotic Warlock chest piece) – 13 Strange Coins
- Bad Juju (Exotic Pulse rifle) – 23 Strange Coins
- Legacy Engram (Special weapon engram) – 31 Strange Coins
- Three of Coins – 5 Strange Coins
- Glass Needles – 3 Strange Coins
Delicious selection this week. Firstly, Bad Juju - should you buy it? Yes. Ok, that was easy. Bad Juju is a superior Exotic Pulse rifle, and its signature perk is something to behold - it basically auto-reloads after every kill AND increases your damage after that kill too. It's super, super handy for PvE, especially Prison of Elders where you can clear Hive or Taken Psion hordes without taking your finger off the trigger. Worth noting: Xur's Exotic weapons appear to still be dropping at 280 Light, so you'll need to find something to infuse it with, fast.
Let's look at the gear. Titans - Helm of Saint-14 is actually a handy bit of kit, especially for Defenders. It blinds anyone entering your Ward of Dawn, leaving them vulnerable for attack. Fine in PvE, but lethal in Crucible. If you need kit for holding Salvage points or making revives in Trials... this is your Helmet. Young Ahamkara's Spine is a nice all-rounder for Hunters, with the headline perk offering an extra Trip Mine and increased TM duration. There are better Hunter Exotics, but this is handy, especially in Crucible. Finally, Starfire Protocol: hmmm, nothing special about this one. You get an extra Fusion grenade, and increased Solar damage/protection. Decent if Solar Burn is a thing, but there are far better Warlock Exotics than this.
Article continues belowDon't forget to stock up on Three of Coins and Glass Needles if you require. And Xur is packing a Legacy Exotic for Special weapons, which could come in handy for unlocking any Year One kit you may need to complete your collection.
As ever, Xur will be around until 10am Sunday (UK time), 2am Sunday (US Pacific). After that he'll vanish FOREVER*.
