Mandalay Pictures has bought the rights to an interactive novel called Machine Man, about an engineer who replaces parts of his own body with titanium upgrades.
The book isn’t due to be published until 2011, but author Max Barry is posting pages of the novel on his website as part of an interactive literary experiment in which suggestions from readers are integrated into the plot as the story unfolds.
Mandalay’s Peter Guber and Cathy Schulman will produce the project. Schulman says of Barry that he’s "one of the freshest voices in fiction today. Max has written a novel that's like candy for Web-geek personalities and thriller lovers alike."
Mandalay is currently prepping a Frank Sinatra biopic with Martin Scorsese at Universal.
