Snake Plissken's getting paternal for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 may include a family reunion for Peter Quill. The self-titled Star-Lord learned at the end of the first movie that his father was an alien; and now we know that alien will be Snake Plissken. Well, not really, but the next best thing. Kurt Russell is being eyed by Marvel to tackle the paternal part. Although he's yet to read a script for the sequel, it looks likely that he'll officially sign on. He's director James Gunn's top choice for the role.

The mystery surrounding Peter Quill's father in the Marvel Cinematic Universe has sparked many rumors. His identity in the comics is no secret; it's J'son of Spartax. But in the movies? It's still shrouded in secrecy. That's not stopped speculation and scoops, the biggest of which insisted that the original Captain Marvel, Mar-Vell of the Kree, was Peter's father. Gunn shot that down, maintaining that none of the guesses have been correct so far. If things go according to plan, we won't find out who Peter's dad really is until the movie opens.

Starring Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel and Pom Klementieff, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 opens on May 5, 2017.
