The best Pokemon GO Dialga Raid Counters will help you capture one of the most powerful Legendary Pokemon when it returns to Pokemon Go Raids. Starting Friday, July 22 until Sunday, July 31 trainers will have a number of chances to battle and catch this Sinnoh Region Pokemon. Of course, it’ll take some careful planning and a few friends to take it down, but that’s what this guide is for.

We’ll break down what Dialga is weak to, which Pokemon of the current crop in Pokemon Go are the best counters and dive deeper into the Legendary’s moveset and how to avoid them. Here’s everything you need to know about Dialga Raids in Pokemon GO including the best counters for it.

And if you're after the other Raid pokemon around right now here are some Pokemon Go Mega Gengar Counters to help bust that ghost.

Dialga is a Dragon and Steel-type Pokemon one of the best typings in the entire franchise. It makes Dialga resistant to a whopping 10 types including Normal, Rock, Water, Grass, Electric, Poison, Flying, Psychic, Bug and Steel.

Thankfully, Dialga is weak to Fighting and Ground, two of the most powerful and common attacks in the game. There are plenty of Pokemon, especially Legendaries, that can bring powerful Ground-type attacks into battle against Dialga. Landorus and Groudon are the obvious choices as they are currently the only Ground-type Legendaries.

Unfortunately, there are only two Mega Pokemon options currently in Pokemon GO. Mega Lopunny’s high attack and Fighting-type attacks is a great option to go up against Dialga if trainers can accumulate enough Pokemon Go Mega Energy. Bringing Mega Lopunny into a Dialga Raid will also increase the damage of other Pokemon’s Fighting-type attacks.

Mega Steelix, while not having the best moveset, does boost the power of Ground-type moves on your team and can deal it out if trainers are patient enough.

In the future, trainers will have more Mega Pokemon options like Mega Swampert, Mega Medicham, Mega Heracross, Mega Blaziken, Mega Camerupt, Mega Lucario, Mega Garchomp, Mega Gallade and Mega Mewtwo X. For now, Mega Lopunny is your only Mega Pokemon choice.

That’s why we would recommend bringing a team of Fighting types to take advantage of the attack boost Mega Lopunny provides.

There are plenty of options in Pokemon Go including Lucario, Machamp and Conkeldurr who can deal a ton of damage quickly and effectively. There are a few Ground types that can pull their weight in battles against Dialga as well but some more than others, but we’ll get into that in the section below.

Pokemon GO Dialga Moveset

Being a Dragon and Steel-type Pokemon, trainers should expect an attack of each type in Dialga’s arsenal, which could mean some counters may not be the best.

The best counters that would do well against Dialga no matter what its moveset is are Lucario, Galarian Stunfisk and Excadrill. Lucario and Excadrill’s Steel typing makes it resistant to Dialga’s Steel and Dragon-type attacks. Excadrill and Galarian Stunfisk have the added bonus of resisting Dialga’s Thunder attack as well so consider bringing it into battle.

Mega Steelix is also resistant to all of Dialga’s moves, it just doesn't have the Fast Attack that can deal damage fast, but it will tank a ton of hits for you.

Mammoswine is a great Ground-type attacker, however, its Ice typing makes it weak against Dialga’s Steel-type attacks. It’s tough to predict which moveset Dialga will use when you go into battle against it, but seeing what Pokemon the mobile game recommends could give some insight. If the game recommends an Ice-type like Mammoswine, then it’s likely safe to bring it in.
