Platinum Games re-launching, tells Japanese game business what's what

Re-launching the company as %26ldquo;Platinum Next,%26rdquo; Minami aims to drag the Japanese game industry %26ndash; kicking and screaming %26ndash; into more unique directions.

%26ldquo;Pursuing the creation of the new,%26rdquo; as he describes it, may sound like a pretty fair plan in the wake of fourteen Final Fantasy games and yearly Call of Duty sequels. While not always setting sales charts aflame, Platinum Games %26ndash; born from the ashes of ex-Capcom super studio Clover %26ndash; do tend to release games that many critics believe to be masterpieces. Maybe Minami is on to something here, but time, as it always does, will tell.
