Oh, Marvel, you cheeky devils. You tease us with The Defenders and Infinity War and, bam, out of nowhere, you announce that The Inhumans is coming to ABC next year. Talk about timing…
And that’s not all. The first two episodes of the show will screen exclusively in IMAX theatres before the rest of the first season premieres on ABC in the fall.
Marvel has announced that it will be teaming up with IMAX and ABC to create ‘a joint marketing and promotion plan for the series’. Why should we be excited? Well, this will be the first time a TV show has ever debuted on the big screen and, to top it off, Marvel’s The Inhumans will build on some of the themes we’ve already seen in the wildly-successful Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
It hasn't been confirmed if this is a replacement for Marvel’s 2019 Inhumans movie, which has gone AWOL, but – *whisper it* - that’s looking more likely than ever after Marvel’s Black Bolt-shaped bombshell.
Don't know anything about The Inhumans? Check out the video below...
But what is The Inhumans? Here’s what we do know: the show "will explore the never-before-told epic adventure of Black Bolt and the royal family". Black Bolt - real name: Blackagar Boltagon (yes, seriously) - has a pretty powerful voice which, even at a whisper, can bring down the toughest of foes. Take that, Morgan Freeman.
Black Bolt will be backed up by his royal family, including the slightly-less-ridiculously named Medusa, Gorgon, and Maximus the Mad. Okay, that last one is pretty ridiculous.
I'm interested to see how a mostly-silent hero works on-screen, but no matter how they do it, I can’t wait to find out when Marvel’s The Inhumans hits IMAX screens in September 2017 and ABC in Fall 2017.
