PC Gamer's offering 50,000 places on the closed beta

Like Runescape? Fancy playing Jagex's new game 8Realms for free? Well here's your chance! Every day this week, PC Gamer will be giving away beta keys (up to 50,000 of 'em!), allowing gamers to play the full game for free for a period of time. The game is browser-based and sees you building an empire through eight stages of history (hence the name, see?), expanding your kingdom by trading and battling with neighbouring players, and by improving the culture of your cities.
