5 things you need to know about Roco Kingdom, the creature-collecting revealed at Opening Night Live at Gamescom
Announced at Opening Night Live, Roco Kingdom is launching globally onto PC, consoles, iOS, and Android. This marks the first time the franchise has launched outside of its native China, where it's become one of the country's biggest entertainment properties.
It launched in China back in March, gaining 15 million registered users, but now it's time to take this creature-collector global.

1. Roco Kingdom started life as a viral browser game in China
ONL may have shown off the upcoming Roco Kingdom title, but that's not where this series started. Back in 2010, a browser game by the same name launched in China and became a viral hit.
And we're not just talking social media takeovers either. It's four feature films, a long-running animated TV series, and over 100 published books. Not to mention the 350 million registered players to date.
Roco Kingdom is a franchise with deep roots and generations of fans who grew up with it. There’s an enormous pool of lore, locations, and characters waiting to be discovered by a completely fresh audience.
2. Yes, it's a multiplayer creature collector
At its core, Roco Kingdom is a creature-collecting game where gameplay centers on catching and befriending creatures known as Jinies. There are over 400 to discover across the open-world continent of Carosia, with each having its own unique behaviors and ways of interacting with other Jinies.
However, this isn't just a creature collector; it's also a vast multiplayer game where you can hang out with your friends, build and decorate your home, farm together, and more. Handily, cross-platform play is supported from day one, so PC and mobile players can share the same world.
3. There are no pay-to-win gacha mechanics at all
Roco Kingdom will launch as a free-to-play title, but that doesn't mean you should expect any pay-to-win gacha mechanics here. Every single one of Roco Kingdom's 400+ Jinies can be earned in-game, and PvP is balanced around skill and type matchups too.
And you can tell that it's gone down well with players too, as Roco Kingdom has been among the top new games released this year in China.
4. Roco Kingdom had a phenomenal launch in China this year
And just to put that into context - Rock Kingdom has 60 million pre-registrations before it even launched, and then went on to hit number one on both the iOS free and grossing charts simultaneously.
Plus, in its first day alone, Roco Kingdom obtained over 15 million new players. Industry analysts at Niko Partners called it "one of the strongest mobile debuts of the year" and it's only going up from here.
5. Now it's coming to PC and console, not just mobile
As announced at ONL, Roco Kingdom is coming to iOS, Android, PC, Xbox Series X, and PS5, complete with cross-play so any friends who want to can play together.
This isn't just a "simple" port to PC and consoles; it's been built with everyone in mind, and that's why we're so excited for this one.
Developer Morefun Studios has also talked up a long-term content roadmap, with new seasons, expanding maps, and story content.
Roco Kingdom launches its first Closed Beta Test on Oct 27 on PC, iOS and Android. Registration is now open via rocokingdom.com. Stay tuned to GamesRadar+ as more about the game is revealed in the coming months.
