First official poster for The Muppets unveiled

The first poster for Jason Segel’s new The Muppets movie has been unveiled online.

A dodgy, low quality snap of the one sheet was revealed over the weekend, but now the official hi-res image has been released.

Featuring Gonzo, Fozzie, Kermit, Miss Piggy and Animal, it’s a slightly bizarre affair showing the puppets in full-body mode striding purposefully towards the camera.

Could that be a hint that the puppets in this new Muppets film will be more impressively life-like in their movements than ever?

Then there’s the matter of the strange tagline, ‘They’re closer than you think’. Is that a threat?

Directed by James Bobin and scripted by Jason Segel, The Muppets follows Gary (Segel) and Mary (Amy Adams), who attempt to stop crazy oil tycoon Tex (Chris Cooper) from destroying the Muppet Theatre.

The Muppets opens 23 November.
