Star Wars: The Force Awakens deleted scene shows there's more to Rey's vision

We've known for a while that there won't be an extended cut for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, but there will be plenty of deleted scenes when it is released on DVD and Blu-Ray. If a report on Making Star Wars is anything to go by, the unseen footage may include details of a scene which has been the source of much speculation since the film was released; Rey's vision.

As you might remember, the scene took place in Maz Kanata's castle, where Rey picks up a certain lightsaber and has a vision of the Knights of Ren and herself as a young child on Jakku, among other things. There was a rumour going round last year that Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader were going to feature in that sequence, and that it would use new footage of their showdown in Empire Strikes Back rather than the original, well-known shots from Episode V.

Well, a new book titled Star Wars: Rey's Story has shed some light on how the scene was going to play out. Check out the passage below...

"As she peered into the distance, she saw a man in black wielding a red Lightsaber. His face was covered with a mask, molded to approximate a human face. But the mask’s eyes were dead and empty. The man’s red Lightsaber clashed against a brilliant beam of blue. A young man with blond hair raised his own Lightsaber and fought furiously against the monster in black."

The Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker toys released ahead of the movie could be evidence of the characters' presence in The Force Awakens, and if that is the case then it would be interesting to know why it didn't make the cut. It would definitely have been a great moment for fans of the series, so here's hoping we all get to see it in the comfort of our homes later this year.
