32 Greatest Jim Henson Creatures

Ultragorgon

The Creature: Hulking dragon-like creature who appeared in 45-minute TV special Monster Maker . Ultragorgon befriends a teenager called Matt who dreams of working in a creature effect shop.

Henson Magic: When Monster Maker was first broadcast, Jim Henson came out after the programme to assure young audiences that the scary puppets weren’t actually real – and was backed up by Kermit the Frog on the matter.

Sir Didymus

The Creature: Small but busting with courage, Sir Didymus is the guardian of the bride spanning Labyrinth ’s Bog of Eternal Stench. At first he’s a nuisance, but his derring-do in the face of a fight quickly becomes useful as he aids Sarah in her journey to the Goblin King’s castle.

Henson Magic: A puppet version of Sir Didymus’s dog-steed Ambrosius was also created in order to get the character to emote fear in certain scenes.
