LOVEFiLM, Europe's number one online DVD rental service, expects Assassin's Creed to top sales and rentals this holiday season.

"Assassins Creed will definitely be up there; our audience have already heavily pre-ordered this and the sure scale of the experience is very cinematic, so will prove popular amongst film fans," Chris Bird, head of marketing services for LOVEFiLM, told GamesIndustry.biz.

"Kane and Lynch will also do well, as will Call of Duty 4. FIFA 08 and PES will also be 'must buy' for anyone getting a new console over Christmas."

EA has confirmed that the demo for FIFA 08 will go live on 360 and PS3 tomorrow.

It'll give you a chance to try out what the publisher is calling its most coherent football game to date. There's the new skill system to try out, the opportunity to play as just one member of the team and not mess it up, plus the usual better graphics, physics, and all that malarkey.

EA announced some new details on the next iteration of the FIFA series at Leipzig. FIFA 08 will run at 60 Fps on both systems and feature 30 leagues, 575 teams and 15000 players.

An announcement also came regarding a post-launch downloadable extra mode which will allow gamers to play 10 person 5 vs. 5 matches online. Up to 10 consoles (EA said PS3s, but we're assuming it will be available for the 360 too) can connect online for true member-of-the-team online football action.

Electronic Arts announced today that FIFA 08 will include a new feature called Be A Pro: Online Team Play that allows 10 people anywhere in the world to connect online to play a single match of FIFA 08. EA has released the first trailer of FIFA 08, the latest iteration of its best-selling soccer franchise. The teaser shows a player in Barcelona kit, running with the ball over 3D grass before burying a long-range shot. Electronic Arts Inc. has reached an agreement with The9 Ltd. to buy a 19 percent stake in the Chinese online game operator for about $200 million, a local newspaper said on Saturday.

EA, the world's top video game publisher, and The9 have reached a basic agreement, Shanghai Securities News reported.

A representative from The9 was not immediately available for comment.

Shanghai-based The9 also obtained the exclusive right to run EA's casual game FIFA Online in China at the end of March, the newspaper added.
