The buttons replacing 'back' and 'start' look like they may function the same as the Dualshock 4's 'share' and 'options' buttons.

Still prefer PS controller. I hate the offset analog sticks, it's awkward. I've never hit my thumbs together while playing nor do has the dozens of other PS owners I know. Does anyone actually have this problem? Just learn some control. The PS d-pad is still better. They've had a smooth back from the beginning. I also like the triggers better. This controller seems like it's finally catching up in the world. Hopefully the analog sticks will be quieter and have better acceleration. The 360 sticks are so freakin loud and go from not reading to full throttle in an instant. The redeeming factor of the 360 controller is it is a bit bigger making more comfortable to hold. This seems to be keeping that. The PS4 controller looks bigger to have the same effect, but it's hard to tell without having held one. I never had an issue with the 360 battery pack, but making it flush was definitely a good idea.

Have they ever considered that some of us don't want kinect at all? I don't want it period. That's gonna be at least another 100 dollars for the system because of something most players aren't interested in

Yeah, I'm still hoping they'll announce a bundle that *doesn't* come with a Kinect unit...

The controller is awesome, sadly, that's the only thing about this monstrosity of a VCR, I mean machine.

I like this controller better than the PS4, but I'm still buying the latter

Wait, I thought Nintendo held a patent on the cross-shaped d-pad. Which is why Sony has the broken up version and almost everyone else has the horrible circular one like the 360's. But, I just looked at a Dreamcast controller and it's got a cross d-pad. Whatever, at least they fixed that so fighting games can be played decently without buying an arcade stick. At last, they dropped their stupid proprietary ports. I'm swimming in micro usb cables since most cell phone makers (gives death glare at Apple) thought "maybe one standard plug would be nice so, in a pinch, someone can use their cord from something else." Thanks for not being greedy this time Microsoft.

I just looked up the patent. The Dreamcast got by on a technically different pivot design. The patent expired in 2005, so MS could have fixed it long ago by releasing a redesigned controller for the 360, but probably figured it wasn't worth it financially until they made a new system.

I recall hearing just a bit ago that the D-pad's patent expiration was near, so I imagine that we may be seeing more of these traditional Nintendo pads in the near future.

looks rad. didn't mess with the good stuff, messed with the bad stuff, and did stuff i hadn't even thought about. looks like my fps freaks will still fit, as well. liking the matte finish.

This was literally one of the only good things about the reveal. They kept the controller basically the same, but improved its weak points. That's all I wanted. Hopefully they will make it PC compatible, because I ain't gonna be using one to play the new Xbox, that's for sure.

the micro usb should be just like the ps3's, so connecting to your pc should actually be easier. fingers crossed that the cable is more than 6 ft (thanks sony!).

The only thing I really like about it is the haptic feedback on the shoulder buttons. Other then that, it's kinda boring.

I don't understand why anyone wants to get rid of start and select buttons, they've always seemed good to me. And my biggest problem with the 360 controller is that huge battery pack in the middle, this looks better in that regard, at least.

I like it, looks clean and simple

    Still AA batteries? Really?
  • MrXLiebezeit - May 21, 2013 12:16 p.m.

And risk more comparisons to the Dreamcast controller? ;)

    thank heavens
