T3 render 'embraces core Sony design principles'

Is this what Sony's PS4 console looks like? Rob Redman, 3D World's Technical Editor, has built this CG render for our sister publication T3, using "launch specs and inspired by Sony core design principles & thinking." Take a look at his vision of of the hardware below and then let us know what you think in the comments. Could this be what we'll be lovingly tucking under our TVs later this year?

We're not sure the machine will be quite as angular as that, plus that blue disc slot does make it look very similar to a black Nintendo Wii. But minimalism is a more modern approach to console design and would certainly distance it from the PS3...

I personally think this design looks hideous. Its way too long and sharp. It needs something to it to catch the eye. It looks like 2001 DVD player...

I thought it was fairly obvious it wasn't going to be official. The title of the article is a question, which should lead you to believe that it is a concept and not actually official.
