Video explosion! New trailers for Nintendo's biggest 3DS games

Nintendo let loose with a ton of new info today, and while the Wii U was defintely the biggest bombshell, there was a ton of great news for current and potential 3DS owners. New trailers were released for pretty much all the upcoming major games, and we've collected the all right here for your convienience.

Super Mario 3D

Check out Henry Gilbert's thoughts on this matter right here. Spoiler: He's excited.

Luigi's Mansion 2

Henry's love for the Brothers Mario of course extends to his goofy brither Luigi. Check out his thoughts on Luigi's Mansion 2 right here

Mario Kart 3D

Reggie Fils-Aime led his 3DS presentation with a heady conundrum: “You want what you've always wanted, but you also want something new.” Why, yes, Reggie, that would be the conundrum of 21st-century affluence summed up in one sentence: you've got our attention. And what panacea could sate both contradictory desires? In an infuriating example of just how well Nintendo knows its audience, it turns out the answer really is simply, “Mario Kart, but with hang-gliders.”

The title, which led the 3DS' launch lineup, made the transition from “thankfully foregone conclusion” to “thing you'll be able to buy this holiday season” via the above trailer that, really, looks and sounds exactly like what you'd expect a Mario Kart game to look and sound.

Paper Mario 3D

It only takes a second to realize the inherent irony in a 3D Paper Mario game, but after Super Paper Mario Nintendo has definitely proven that they can make it work. The trailer up North there looks like the game remains true the the Paper series’ Action/RPG formula (heavy emphasis on the Action), and also looks like it’ll make good use of the 3D effect. While 3D trailers are at the moment, not possible, you can clearly see where the effect is likely to be used, specifically in the scenes where strips of paper are cut up and fall to the ground, or the Goombas are folded into paper planes and launched at you.

Star Fox 64 3DS

While we'd gladly hurl a puppy into a volcano for a new plane based Star Fox game, this 3D remaster is looking pretty snazzy, with new graphics and multiplayer battle modes. The trailer is clearly pushing the multiplayer, and with the ease of wireless connectivity it should be easy to play with friends. Sadly though, there's been no online announced, meaning you're dogfights will have to stay local. We'd like to see some new single player content, but seing as Star Fox 64 is one of our all time favorites, we'll let it slide for now.

Animal Crossing 3D

Looks like you can swim now.

Kid Icarus: Uprising

One of the most unique 3DS titles on the horizion is Kid Icarus: Uprising, a reboot of the classic NES era game. The game is being designed by Smash Bros. designer Masahiro Sakurai, and KI:U defintely bears a striking visual resemblance to SSB: Brawl's Subsapce Emissary mode. Like the Star Fox 64 3D trailer, there's a big focus on multiplayer here, and the frantic mix of beat-em-up and shooting elements looks like a lot of fun. AR cards also make an appearance, making use of the 3DS's cameras and apparently allowing for head to head battles between cards. We've actually already had some hands-on time with the game, which you can check out right here.

  • BurntToShreds - June 8, 2011 8:40 p.m.

  • SVC5 - June 8, 2011 6:37 p.m.

  • Kir - June 8, 2011 11:09 a.m.

Great.... a 'sponsored message' on every single damn video.... I'll go elsewhere thanks.
  • Teve0rz - June 8, 2011 9:48 a.m.

Even the Goomba in the Mario video has a Tanooki Tail!
  • Imgema - June 8, 2011 7:06 a.m.

I like how they remade the dialog in Starfox but without changing the way the lines are delivered and i suppose they used the same actors?
  • humpiedumpie - June 8, 2011 7:06 a.m.

    Fuck. Now i need a 3ds
  • shawksta - June 8, 2011 5:38 a.m.

Whatshisface is right, they are available in the shop! Full 3D Baby!
  • kjdubz22 - June 8, 2011 5:29 a.m.

Well I want a 3DS now...these all look like extremely fun games with completely different experiences, the only thing missing is a Zelda game...and I guess you could say Nintendo fans are easy to please because when you're given the best and most polished franchises of any console you immediately forget about all the shovelware in between...either way I'm playing Paper Mario again.

  • hud4567 - June 8, 2011 3:45 a.m.

Star Fox needs some damn online. 8 player online arwing battles to the death. Maybe on Wii U.........
  • shawksta - June 8, 2011 3:07 a.m.

Nintendo knows that we care about gameplay and fun and not realism and other crap. Even so, nintendos first party are still AAA and they usually never dissapoint and do their job the best. These are gonna be awesome!
  • Jared117 - June 8, 2011 2:41 a.m.

Mario 3D looks awesome, Its about time for Luigi's mansion 2, mario kart with hanggliders and underwater.... Really?, Paper mario looks boring, Star Fox is great, And this new Kid Icarus looks like crap. The only way you could get me to buy animal crossing is if they included playable full NES games like they did in the gamecube version.
  • SirCheesedip - June 8, 2011 2:35 a.m.

They had to have the "do a barrel roll" line in the Star Fox trailer. Oh Nintendo how I love you!
  • crimsonmoose - June 8, 2011 2:28 a.m.

exactly @Bladex206. im not hating on any other console. i squealed like a little girl at Sly 4 and peed my pants when Uncharted was shown. I just like good, polished games, like you said. Nintendo delivers that. consoles dont matter, graphics can only go so far. (not saying i want Minecraft graphics)
  • Bladex206 - June 8, 2011 2:22 a.m.

@crimsonmoose True speak, as a lover of FPS games however I still am easily pleased by Nintendo because I know they will deliver nothing less than a polished to the max fun game.
  • Bladex206 - June 8, 2011 2:20 a.m.

@chrisat928 Sounds like you are 3DS-lacking. Loled hard.
  • crimsonmoose - June 8, 2011 2:16 a.m.

its because we dont have generic first person shooters. and games people want to play. and its not much pleasure if its hard to get
  • Fuzunga - June 8, 2011 2:12 a.m.

There are 3D versions of these on the eShop.
