UbiWorkshop's secret project is Assassin's Creed Ascendance

Today is funny. We went to our local doughnut shop and said to our main doughnut guy, “You know what, the world could use more hype for Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood. It’s only coming out in a week, don’t ‘cha know.” That’s when doughnut guy clued us in to this fine looking teaser trailer for Assassin’s Creed: Ascendance. And yes, it’s the best doughnut shop on Earth.

Birthed from the capable hands at UbiWorks – Ubisoft Montreal’s offshoot group responsible for comics, short films, and art tie-ins – Ascension was previously known as “Secret Project #3” until earlier today when the above teaser was unleashed on to the internet. What it is seems to still be something of a mystery, though UbiWork’s website states that it's “obviously not a game!” Obviously.

So until we hear more, all we can do is speculate. Animated film? Television series? Motion comic? Ok, it's probably a short web series, but who knows - start talking, folks.

And is that Altair that we’re seeing? The mind boggles.

I am losing track of all the Assassin's creed games, comics, books, and everything else. Anyone want to make a list of Assassin's Creed stuff so I can get the full Assassin's Creed experiance?

maybe its just a video series of an assassin jumping off things and into other things

The Duo group already did something like this that turned out quite well.

looks more like a flash thumbnail developed from a quick cocktail-napkin sketched over Jager-Bombs down at P.J. McFisty's than anything else... color me officially "Meh-ed".

What ever this is, I'm loving it. Love Assassin's Creed.

I had a nightmare last night that Assassins Creed pulled a Kingdom Hearts on us, and all we got was random spin offs for years and there was absolutely no sign of AC3 whatsoever. Thank god it was just a dream, right Ubisoft?

you mean it's not gonna be another game? aww... because all assassin creed games are fun.

@Odis: The comic is a three-parter called "The Fall", and the first issue hit stores yesterday, if I'm not mistaken. Apparently Target has a deal with Ubisoft for special editions of the first comic, so that's where I'm going to go to pick up my copy. In regards to the video, I wouldn't say that it was a full movie, perhaps a web series or a motion comic, or some kind of hybrid? And it certainly does look like Altair!

Um... I don't know if this has anything to do with this... But I saw hint's to imply that an Assassin's Creed comic is coming... And in this video where Gabe unpacks the Collector's addition, he says it comes with a sneak peek of the comic. So yeah.

@Furyspittles I thought the same thing it showed absolutley nothing besides the name Ascendance.
  • Furyspittles - November 11, 2010 4:53 a.m.

Am I the only one who thought that Teaser trailer was pathetic? Ha, all it showed was him crouched, then running along a rooftop, then jumping off it. I think, just maybe, that concept has been visited in all 4 Assassin's Creed videogames extensively already. Show something distinguishable?

    stealth... /facepalm
  • Eliath - November 11, 2010 4:09 a.m.

I have a sudden urge for some doughnuts... and to steal kill people.
  • Twizinator - November 11, 2010 3:38 a.m.

hmmm... looks like Ezio to me. Altair is so under-appreciated.
  • ninjaemperor - November 11, 2010 3:33 a.m.

You have the coolest doughnut shop ever, and being Canadian, I know doughnuts
  • Ganonpork - November 11, 2010 3:29 a.m.
