Transformers: Fall of Cybertron not available on PC in Australia

Neither Autobot nor Decepticon will be rolling out across gaming's entire hardware spectrum, as Activision has announced that Transformers: Fall of Cybertron won't see a release on the PC platform in Australia.

A media release sent by Activision heralding the game's launch was sent to outlets, before an updated version was offered minutes later. In its revision, PC was removed from the available platforms, the change highlighted by a simple note:

"Please be advised that TRANSFORMERS: FALL OF CYBERTRON will not be available on PC in Australia."

The PC is no stranger to the-platform-is-dead naysaying, while Australia has experienced its share of region-specific knocks. However, it's disappointing to see a hefty one-two punch come from a publisher such as Activision on a title with such wide appeal.

We've reached out to Activision for additional comment, and will update this story when we know more.

UPDATE: A representative of Activision's PR agency provided the following response:

"It’s just not available; sorry don’t have any more information on that one."

UPDATE 2: We've received additional word from Activision's internal PR:

"Each publisher makes decisions about which titles and which platforms to release based on consumer demand."

Feel comfortable with the possibility of starting an age gap relationship on c_o_u_g_a_r_l_o_v_i_n_g_c_o_m where people think just like you May be you have experienced a lot in life already and now want a totally different type of relationship. Recapture some of your youth and try striking up.

That's weird. It released fine in NZ, for 49.95 USD. What's even weirder is that the game was set to release here on the 22nd, and unlocked for me at what would have been midnight in Aussie, as with many Aus/NZ region steam games. My guess is the 49.95 price point is a mistake, and the game is down while they try to stick people with the 90 USD slap in the face. But that wouldn't explain the game's NZ availability.

Well it's on Steam for pre-purchase in Australia although War for Cybertron locked on Steam in Australia. It makes complete sense. Our PCs are upside down and are powered by kangaroos, drop-bears and memories of Steve Irwin. If it's taken down from Steam, hooray for importing from the UK which is cheaper anyway. I would say though that with the higher costs for games in Australia (which no-one has yet provided a viable explanation for), Australian PC gamers are far higher in number for pirating games and therefore making new releases less profitable. Either that or Activision sucks ass

Sorry about your luck over there. I hope these companies get their heads out of their asses in the future and start charging a universal price for games, and making them available to all. A pipe dream, I know, but one can still hope.
