man WTF Cole McGrath doesn't even have an Honorable mention
  • BladedFalcon - March 18, 2013 2:42 p.m.

...How is he in any way lucky? Sure, he got superpowers, but that lead him down a road of nothing but suffering and loss, regardless of the ending you choose in both games. That, and the fact that he got superpowers had nothing to do with luck in the first place.

He was lucky that he was given powers, being a conduit, instead of being killed by the thingamajiggy explosion.
  • BladedFalcon - March 18, 2013 4:28 p.m.

...Did you even play the first game?
  • garnsr - March 18, 2013 8:17 p.m.

I got platinum on both games. It seems like he was luckier than most of the people in that universe, since he crawled out of the crater with powers instead of dying. I certainly wouldn't put him on this list, though.

WARNING; SPOILERS FOR BOTH INFAMOUS GAMES Well, then you should know that him surviving that explosion wasn't luck at all. That had been orchestrated by Kestrel all along, and Him, being Cole from the future, had done it that way to prepare him to confront the beats, because in his future, the entire world got ruined, along with his life. And while you might argue that he was lucky about being a conduit in the first place, even in Kestrel's time-line, that fact hasn't really brought nothing but misery to him, not to mention that he really isn't unique anyway, nor the only conduit. Any scenario you look, Cole is screwed, the love of his life dies, the city he lived in gets destroyed, and he either has to die to save humanity, or ends up becoming humanity's doom, and kills his best friend along with them. Honestly, if you think it that way, he probably would have been luckier to have just died when the explosion or the best came...

    *Argh, I meant Beast, not "beats" or "best"... This is what happens when you write a post while being sleep deprived >_>;

  • LordzOfChaos - March 18, 2013 7:07 p.m.

    What?
  • Krazee - March 19, 2013 12:31 a.m.

What are you talking about? That's Master Chief as seen in Halo 4.
  • ObliqueZombie - March 18, 2013 1:07 p.m.

Fun read as always, Mr. Taljonick!

i remember the part in uncharted 2, where nate's hopping between trucks, whilst elena's following behind. now, up to this point, you've done some incredibly ludicrous, pushing-the-boundaries-of-your-disbelief stuff. but the second the two of them flew off a cliff at 50+ mph, only to crawl up the side COMPLETELY unscathed (i mean seriously, physics...), i had to yell "no fucking way!" at my tv. lucky indeed.

Heh, clever meta-entry on the number 1 spot, I like it XD I don't really think Lara's entry makes much sense though, because yeah, even though she didn't die from all the horrible things that happens to her in the game, she still went trough a hell that I wouldn't think one call as "lucky" to be into in the first place. That, and if her ability to survive wounds is considered to be luck, then half of video game characters might as well be just as deserving. Such as say, Commander Shepard, who not only survived a lot of nasty wound and falls. But also happened to be at the right place and at the right time to encounter/rescue the right person that then would end up becoming his/her teammate. And yes, I know people will bring up the ME3 ending, but EVEN THAT he/she arguably is able to survive it if the player controlling it happened to made the right decisions trough the whole saga, and picked the one lucky ending that lets him/her live at the end.
  • shawksta - March 18, 2013 2:49 p.m.

I agree with Shepard but i think he falls on the category of the actual Player, but then again others characters on this list would too.
  • BladedFalcon - March 18, 2013 4:38 p.m.

Well, my reasoning with Shepard is that a lot of the things he does "right" usually are because he happens to arrive or be on the precise moment that otherwise something bad would have happened, and in that sense, that's more a matter of luck than skill. For example, him rescuing Tali in the first game was a matter of sheer luck because he arrived JUST before she was ambushed and killed, this wasn't planned by him, it was luck. In the second game, same deal with Arch-angel, as he arrives just before the mercs attack all at once, and as awesome Garrus is, he would have not survived that had Shepard not appeared. Heck, the second time he recruits Tali in the second game, he also was incredibly lucky to arrive just when it so happened Tali's team was making an excursion in the planet, and just before the Geth arrived to where Tali was. And in the third game? Shepard and the Normandy surprised the initial invasion of the Reapers on earth thanks more to luck than actual skill, they could have very easily been killed by a reaper laser then. Need I go on? because i still have plenty other examples! : D
  • shawksta - March 18, 2013 6:51 p.m.

I think you made your point XD Speaking of the Geth, Legion was the best shit ever, frankly, Party members are the reason i love the series NOW IF ONLY I CAN CONVINCE MYSELF TO PLAY THE 3RD GAME ALREADY
  • BladedFalcon - March 18, 2013 6:58 p.m.

Yeah, Legion is my favorite character after Mordin, and the characters really are the best part of the series.
  • antiAntag0nist - March 18, 2013 8:06 p.m.

Why so reluctant to play ME 3?
  • avantguardian - March 19, 2013 1:14 a.m.

it's a great game. don't let the haters dissuade you. definitely worth forging your own opinion.
  • shawksta - March 19, 2013 9:07 a.m.

Oh no guys, it has nothing to do with things AGAINST it rather, my 360 account got messed up late 2011, and i had no other choice but to make a new one and basically all my saves and such are gone. The reason i havent played Mass Effect is because i want to re-play Mass Effect 2 atleast so i can carry my choices and i wouldnt any problem replaying it except i cant find it. Dont know if my brother lets someone borrow it and never returned or what. Im planning to play it soon but because of the long run ive gotten used to not playing it. Im telling myself to buy the trilogy so then i can play the original too
