GI Joe 2 Director Speaks Out
Seems like GI Joe 2 will be a very different beast from its predecessor, if new director Jon (“please don’t judge me by the fact I directed a Justin Bieber documentary”) Chu is to be believed in an interview with The Deadbolt : “I grew up playing with GI Joes and watching Joe and reading the comics of Joe. It means so much to me. To me, it’s one of the few brands that has a soul, a multi-generational soul, where it’s about what it means to be a leader in the community, in your home, with your friends, and what it means to be a leader and a hero. I think that’s an important message right now in the world when everyone’s kind of questioning what it means to be the leader of the world. I think it’s not just another action movie. Maybe the first one was that, but we’re really trying to break it down and take the shine off and show that my Joes were the ones in the mud, the sand and the trees and in the epic worldwide adventures. Each one had individual talents. So we really want to bring the experience of what I grew up with playing with these toys. What it feels like so that kids now can be reintroduced to the Joes and experience it in a different way. This is like down and dirty Joe for me.”

Oscar Winner Joins Glee Creators’ Horror Story
Double Oscar winner Jessica Lange ( Tootsie , Blue Sky , Big Fish ) has been cast in a lead role in Glee creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Fulchak’s new FX series American Horror Story . Apparently the writer/producers are rewriting the script to expand her role. Although there is little information about the show’s story as yet, Deadline reveals two of the main characters: Ben Harmon, a sensitive therapist, and Vivien Harmon (Connie Britton), his gorgeous wife who is a force to be reckoned with. Lange will play their nosy neighbour. Murphy will direct the pilot.

Doctor Who Interviews
As part of publicity for the new series of Doctor Who (which has now been confirmed as starting at the ridiculously early time of 6pm on 23 April), the BBC has released interviews with Matt Smith and Karen Gillan, discussing what viewers might expect from the upcoming episodes.

Terra Nova ’s Delayed Premiere May Not Be Down To Just The FX
When Fox announced that the premiere of the Spielberg-produced dinosaur-and-time-travel TV series Terra Nova would be moved back from May to the autumn, the official reason given was that the FX team needed more time to make the show look great. But if The Hollywood Reporter is to be believed, it could be more complicated than that. It seems that not enough footage was shot to create the two-hour pilot the network ordered and everybody seems to be blaming everyone else – and even the weather – for the reason. A massive turnover of producers and writers hasn’t helped, but director Alex Graves also had to contend with torrential rain during the Australian shoot that often prevented the crew from being able to go on location. The combination of weather problems, script issues and what a Fox spokesperson called "the difficulty of timing action sequences” led to the production coming back from the shoot with less footage than needed for a two-hour program. Some are putting the blame on Graves, but showrunners Brannon Braga and Rene Echevarria are also in the firing line. A Fox spokesperson quoted in the article says, “Brannon misjudged it at the script stage, and Alex and his script supervisor misjudged it as it was being shot.” But an executive at another studio added, “Maybe the problem is that there are so many cooks in the kitchen – all the producers on the project, along with the network and the studio.”

Mark Ruffalo Teases What The Avengers ’ Hulk Might Look Like
Ready for a Hulk with a chest rug? Mark Ruffalo has spoken some more about the motion capture process he’ll be going through to transform him into the Hulk, and reveals that the resulting CGI creation will be an almost exact replica of himself (though presumably a bit bulkier), body hair and all: “No one has asked me to shave my chest yet, thank God. They want this Hulk to be as close to me as possible. I’ll be playing him in motion-capture, so this Hulk will just be a bigger avatar version of me. As they’re modelling him, they’re using many of my own features, down to my scars and wrinkles. He will have body hair, but I don’t know to what extent.”
