The Top 7 Edible Enemies in Video Games

Eat This! We serve up the most digestible do-badders ever seen onscreen

Words: on January 29, 2007

How many different villains have tried to take us down over the course of video game history? A million? It's probably far more, actually. Every one of which was ready to blast holes through our chests, pummel us 'til we drooled, or maybe just gnaw our torsos off. Bastards.

But how many have there been whom we could literally stomach? Far fewer. Sure, Pac-Man can choke down almost anything after eating one of his big, flashing drug cakes, but those ghosts don't have any protein at all. Let's take a look at the seven enemies we figure are most likely to make it onto the menu at your local eatery.

First Course: Mr Hot Dog, Mr Egg and Mr Pickle
BurgerTime (Arcade, most classic systems)

Yes, technically these grizzled old-timers are three separate food items, but they operate as one mind, systematically spreading out, cornering and chasing down poor chef Peter Pepper as he attempts to stomp out the world's largest hamburgers in the most poorly laid-out kitchen in the universe. What these, the most famous and possibly first nutritional nemesis in gaming, actually do to poor Peter when they catch him isn't quite clear. We only know it's nothing that the Heimlich maneuver or even a stomach pump can cure.

There was one game one the nintendo 64 in which you played as a purple alienlike character with no arms or legs (but floating hands, like rayman) with a green bowtie. I can't remember the name of that game, but you did fight killer tomatoes in it.

Hmm, on #4 instead of an onion ring he could have turned himself into a calamari ring instead, they look pretty much the same. Clearly I have thought about this too much already though...
