Star Wars: Battlefront 3 Weekly: Episode 13 - The Clone Wars

We have very little to go on with DICE's upcoming Battlefront title in terms of what battles we'll be spraying our blaster bolts in. That's why this week, we talk about the possibility of the developers returning to the Clone Wars era and letting us fight in the battle of Coruscant or side by side with the Jedi in the battle of Geonosis. Take a look and let us know if you want the Clone Wars to return and tell us your answer to the week's "would you rather" in the comments below.

    Sony is the best company.

The clone wars in the books, the republic commando games and novels, and the original clone wars show is perfect. The new clone wars show is trash, and doesn't deserve to exist let alone overwrite such a well constructed expanded universe. In all honesty, the Republic Commando novels and game fit into the Star Wars universe much better than any of the prequel movies.

I'd rather choke my opponents to death because you won't leave finger prints and you can chuck the dead body into random places and walk away.

I'm not of the group that has any fondness for the prequels or Clone Wars series (unless we are talking about the oft forgotten Genndy Tartakovsky mini series). THAT BEING SAID... the clone wars seem to be about as videogame-y as it gets. Though not engaging as a viewer, this stuff would be a pure blast to participate in.

I actually enjoyed the prequel trilogy. Maybe because I was in elementary school when they started coming out. So I actually enjoy them. I've learned that nostalgia can be blinding in some situations as well. We are never going to get another 4,5 or 6, so why compare the recent trilogies to them? Btw, is anyone else hoping Bioware makes another KOTOR/new game? I am. I would use Force Choke. There is something terrifying about choking someone in mid air, even though you could just snap a neck, force fry people or just chop 'em up into sushi pieces with your lightsaber.

I remember when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade and episode 2 came out and to me it really gave me the sense of scale and awesome battle that hoth did in episode 5. Now true the prequels had a few hic ups *cough* jar jar but it still shouldn't take as much flak as it does. I'm hoping DICE brings in some of the legacy era timeline especially the fall of Jacen Solo and the rise of Darth Caedus.

I really hope that Bioware gets a chance to create another kotor. But with the licensing of a new game made nearly impossible (unless it's something EA/Disney approves) without being related to swtor or the movies. I enjoy playing swtor, I've taken breaks but for the most part I've stayed in because Star Wars. So far though the story after your classes is waaay too MMO/raid driven. But because of the above mentioned Disney/EA business and the lack of cannon decisions in swtors class stories and the barely a story that is end game raiding, I'd think Bioware would be better off creating a new game in a different time period/era. If they can I'm not sure about the game EA said that Bioware was currently working after their deal with Disney

Last heard, Bioware got a license to make a new game. I also heard Visceral got a license to make a game. So hopefully we will get a new KOTOR from the team that made Mass Effect 3 (hopefully not the writers...) and not the ones that made Dragons Age 2,3. Haha. I'm hoping to play SWTOR for a bit after I build my PC over thanksgiving. Should be fun.

Yep all I know about the EA Star Wars trio is that battlefront is being made :/ buuutttt imagine a kotor that retains a lot of swtors end game story or set in say the period between the trilogies? Kinda like force unleashed but rpg. I do hope EA won't tie Bioware to the old republic era anymore though
  • PhantomPineapple - November 2, 2013 12:18 p.m.

To be honest, a Mandalorian War era would be awesome!!! But yeah, Old Republic needs a break for a few years. I'm thinking this battlefront wont have clone wars in it either. Probably maps from 4,5,6 and new era maps (maybe). DICE is good at making FPS' but they typically make only about 10 maps excluding dlc. so galactic conquest is going to be hard pressed in the beginning. Best prep for BFT Premium.
  • Doctalen - November 2, 2013 12:22 p.m.

Aye galactic conquest will be a little dry (if included but come on it will be) but hey it'll be worth it. Now for the Bioware one I'd personally like to see one were the Jedi take a back seat. So the Mando wars could work
