God of War: Chains of Olympus

Delve into Kratos's brutal and bloody past

Nov 28, 2007

With over a million copies of God of War II flying off the shelves and still climbing, it’s only a matter of time before Sony announces Kratos’s blood-soaked third outing for PS3. Until then, we’ve got Chains of Olympus, a bite-sized beast exclusively for PSP that fleshes out Kratos’ past, charting events before PS2’s God of War.

When we first heard of God of War on the PSP we couldn’t help wondering if it would go down the same route as its Killzone cousin and be given a makeover of sorts for the portable edition. Thankfully, the formula for carnage has stayed the same. And what remains is, at this early stage, one of the most breathtaking palm-battering offerings we played, almost guaranteed to set tongues wagging.

A lot of details are still being kept under wraps right now, but we did get our hands on code that showcased the game's opening acts - well, a small portion of them - including the Battle of Attica.
