King Kong star Adrien Brody is to star in the Robert Rodriguez-produced Predator reboot, Predators, according to Variety . The lanky actor will play a mercenary who tries to keep his team alive when its members are hunted by the aliens. The film, to be directed by Nimrod Antal (best known for 2003 Hungarian thriller Kontroll and Vacancy), and with a script by Rodriguez, Alex Litvak and Michael Finch is currently planned for a 9 July 2010 release date from Fox.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter’s Heat Vision Blog has more information on the rest of the cast (all of which would seem to confirm this story from a week ago, which claimed that the film would be about a group of Earth’s deadliest killers being kidnapped by Predators and taken to the Predator planet). These include:
Topher (Spider-man 3) Grace, playing an accountant-type whose unassuming facade masks a dangerous serial killer.
Alice (I Am Legend) Braga as a tough female killer.
Mahershalalhashbaz (The 4400) Ali as a man not afraid to die.
Walt (The Shield) Goggins as the loose canon of the group.
Danny Trejo as Cuchillo, a hardened warrior with twin uzis strapped to his back.
FC fighter Oleg Taktarov as a former Russian special ops agent.
