A new trailer has been released for Mike Newell’s adaptation of the seminal Charles Dickens novel,
, and it looks every bit as lavish as you might expect.
Jeremy Irvine stars as Pip, a young man who inherits a great fortune, but finds himself romantically frustrated by the beautiful Estella (Holliday Grainger) and the machinations of the embittered Miss Havisham (Helena Bonham Carter).
Factor in the reappearance of the inscrutable Magwitch (Ralph Fiennes), who finds himself in a spot of hot water with the law, and life soon become rather complicated for our young hero. Oh well, at least he has his looks.
Take a look at the new trailer, below...
Grainger and Irvine seem to have a decent chemistry to work with, but this one is all about the grotesques, with Bonham Carter and Fiennes looking to be on scene-stealing form as the ghoulish figures that flit in and out of the younger couple’s lives.
Featuring supporting performances from Jason Flemyng, Robbie Coltrane, Sally Hawkins and David Walliams,
opens in the UK on 30 November 2012.
