Muramasa: Rebirth PS Vita update coming

Muramasa: The Demon Blade's colorful, hand-drawn visuals enchanted us when they graced the standard-definition Wii, and not only Japanese gamers will soon be able to enjoy them on the PlayStation Vita's vibrant screen. Aksys Games is "fully relocalizing" Muramasa: Rebirth for release in English-speaking countries.

The stories of Momohime and Kisuke will begin anew with enhanced controls for the handheld system, and four extra character stories will be available for purchase as downloadable content. Muramasa: Rebirth will retain its original Japanese dialogue with text translated and edited by Aksys.

Aksys gave no indication of a release date other than "soon," though its pre-order listing on Amazon says it will be out on June 25. The Japanese version is set for release on March 28.

I own this for the Wii and is pretty awesome and gorgeous. I would love to own it for Vita...once I get one.

Argh! Only for the Vita!? >.< why not a PSN release? ):

Because right now the Vita needs games like an Ethiopian needs a snack.

I never said it shouldn't come out for the Vita, that's totally great, but if they already porting it, why not take the extra step and make it also available for PS3?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I'd think they're keeping it ported to vita only to boost its appeal. Got to set up an attractive library before people have many reasons to buy one is what I'm thinking. If they put it on psn I bet the ps3 base, also bigger than the vita's ,would just get it for ps3 instead and vita would be left high and dry.

Well, maybe... Except the Vita should have done that A YEAR AGO, not just now. That, and I'm sure pretty much most people that own a PS3 but not a Vita by now, aren't going to suddenly buy one for this game alone. I love Vanillaware games so much, but they are pretty niche, so even for the publisher, Askys, it would make more sense, and more money to them if they ported the game on more consoles, rather than to what's probably the least popular handheld in the Market. And I mean, I get your point, but this is a third party game, not a game developed by sony or companies affiliated to them. Having Killzone: Mercenaries and Tearaway as exclusives for the Vita makes sense because Sony is developing them, it's in their interest to promote their console. I just don't see what asking could gain from it, unless Sony's paying them a big buck to do so... which seems kinda unlikely to me, but who knows.

Two words: Cross Play. It should be put on PSN and if you buy it for PSVita, you get the PS3 version as well. Everyone wins.
