so to conclude... xbox 720 will have a tablet controller, will launch with a 360 game, a dance game and some ports, sound like the Wii U launch to anybody? At least Nintendo won't bend us all over a barrel in 6 months and turn on the no used games feature and charge us £50 every year to go online. It amazes me that xbox was double the cost of the wii out of the box,you then had to buy a wireless router and pay a yearly subscription and for what? Halo and the same games on wii that look a bit nicer! And after 3 years of "ooohhh were all hardcore" the xbox just went down the wii route anyway with kinect.

If you actually read all of the article you'll see that your conclusion is a bit diluted. Not only will it be backwards compatible but it WILL allow used games. Not to mention that the tablet may be used as a controller, it isn't the only controller. It'll obviously launch with more then come game, what system in history has ever launched with one game. Not to mention I don't have to strap a projectile to my wrist to use my kinect. I'm sorry if it took you soon long to HD gaming on your Wii, but don't blame Xbox.

I heard a leaked rumour today that said the new Xbox is going to be made out of leather.

Wheat you mean to say Ryan, is that Smartglass will be billed as playing a huge role, but will end up being about as useful as Kinect.

At this rate, I might just focus on upgrading my computer. Forget hardware, I'll want exclusives and fun games. AND, if they block used games (which would cement their death) it's a win-win for me,

Does anyone really use Blu-ray that much that it needs to be standard on the PS4 and 720? Blu-ray disks cost more than a DVD and I really don't think the quality is that much better. I think Blu-ray and now 3D are fads that about 5 people really liked and everyone just looked at it and said that I am not going to spend the money on it.
  • Eo1spy - February 10, 2013 6:22 a.m.

It definitely needs to be standard. From what I hear, several 360 games come on multiple discs, whereas not a single PS3 one does - because of Blu-Ray. With games getting bigger all the time, Blu-Ray is essential. While they do cost more, it is definitely worth it. If you watch a Blu-Ray on a calibrated full HD tv and then compare the same movie on DVD, there is no contest with picture quality, not to mention the higher fidelity sound. I do agree that 3D is a bit of a fad. Once they create 3D without the need for glasses then I think it will properly take off.

I think sony owns the rights to Blu-Ray though. so that kinda decreases the chances of The New Xbox getting a Blu-Ray Drive.
  • Nvix - February 10, 2013 2:22 p.m.

Yes we need blu-ray! so we wont have to have multiple discs when playing a game. We would just have all the discs in that one blu-ray disc.
  • greg-hakes - February 11, 2013 12:13 a.m.

Dude, you must be on Crack. There is a night and day difference between DVD and Bluray, it's like comparing Green Grass to Snow. 3D is not a Fad, Millions have bought 3D TV's and Millions more will buy once the Format war is over. ( Passive - Active ). Where did you come up with noone is going to buy Bluray? Stores are selling bluray 5 -1 over DVD's these day's, please get Real.
  • Ryan_Taljonick - February 11, 2013 12:18 a.m.

Not at all, actually. Sony is just one of several companies that collectively own and push the Blu-ray format. Sony would (likely) rather have every xbox equipped with a BR drive because a)they'd get a tiny bit of money per drive sold to microsoft, and b) the format would be further established if new Xbox's come w/ them.
  • AqueousBoy - February 11, 2013 8:27 a.m.

Sony is one company of several that form the Blu-ray Disc Association. Sony doesn't get final say on who can license the technology, and even if they did they would still give it to Microsoft. The business world does not work the way you think it does.

Lib-Ray is superior and is open source http://lib-ray.org/

I can tell you what the next Xbox will have....Advertisements!!!!! It still blows my mind that people will pay for online on xbox live when psn is just as good. Hell the wii u has great online too. And Nintendo and Sony don't feel the need to nickle and dime people or place advertisements everywhere!!!!! Gotta love Sheepeople!!!!!!
  • ColtPersonality - February 10, 2013 12:10 p.m.

as an Xbox user, the only thing i'm jealous of is PSN+ because you get better deals, and other than some other exclusives I don't really care to own a PS3. and as for the advertisements, I don't really get the rage over them. the companies pay Microsoft money to advertise their products and Microsoft advertises them. and even so it's not like the ads are intrusive. they are just in a little corner on the dashboard for goodness sake!
