Medal of Honor open beta running for the next two days

There's no doubt that thousands of gamers are eagerly awaiting next week's release of Medal of Honor, and that plenty would kill for a sneak peek. If you're among them, then it's your lucky day - between now and the end of the day on October 7 (Pacific Time), anyone can go to to download the free beta and participate in a final test to make sure the servers are up to snuff.

Medal of Honor has received a lot of attention lately due to the controversy over its original ability to play as Taliban soldiers in the multiplayer mode. After biting accusations that the game is some sort of terrorist anti-American Taliban simulator, EA decided to change the game by replacing the word "Taliban" to "Opposing Force."

In the same press release as the open beta announcement, EA took the opportunity to make a statement about the controversy.

"The heartbeat of Medal of Honor has always resided in the reverence for American and Allied soldiers. The decision to remove the Taliban team name was out of respect for the families of these men and women," said the game's executive producer Greg Goodrich.

The game is due for release on October 12, assuming no one breaks makes all the servers explode before then.

@SaugaPrime: Serious question here, I need to know... are you fucking retarded? And on topic: is anyone else trying to play this on Steam and having it open, then immediately close again?

I've been playing it on PC and I've actually been fairly impressed. Only complaints I have is occasionally getting unavoidably killed on spawn, not being able to go prone (I understand the reasoning behind it, but I still find it annoying), and not being able to lean around corners. The close combat map they have is fairly unimpressive, but the mission, attack defend, battlefield bad company 2 style map is loads of fun, I've even been enjoying playing as sniper which rarely happens. Still rests on the single player for me though.

I bet some taliban will try and play this game on his pc. Which I think is a great way into finding out his ip address, go there and shoot him. Maybe this game will help us win the war on terror having crazy people play this kind of game instead of doing it for real, which would give us time to track them down and arrest them. Look at how governments were able to prevent terrorist plots off of facebook and other sites etc. Now it's time to do it in gaming!

Jack Thompson is now the world most SUCCESSFUL TROLL. And who really gives a shit that the name of the Taliban is changed.

Is there a torture scene, in which you could replace the torturee with Jack Thompson, and you can beat him upside the head with a mackerel until shuts his whore mouth?
