BioWare and FUNimation are teaming up to produce a Mass Effect anime movie. Scheduled for release in 2012, the straight-to-home-video film will be co-produced by T.O Entertainment, the same company working on the Dragon Age animated film.
BioWare’s own Casey Hudson, executive producer of the Mass Effect series, will be working closely with FUNimation and T.O Entertainment as executive producer of the film. “Over the last few years, we have revealed different pieces of the Mass Effect world through different media. Extending the story through an anime medium is another amazing opportunity for us,” said Hudson. “Partnering with FUNimation ensures that we will bring this rich universe to life with the utmost quality and the same attention to detail that the Mass Effect games are known for.”

Although production on the anime movie has already begun, no concrete details have been released regarding the film’s plot and main characters.
