Soulcalibur V has a pretty good roster as it is, including Assassin’s Creed star and Italy’s greatest killer Ezio Auditore, but what if you want to get creative with your blade master? That’s why Soulcalibur’s character creation and customization mode is making its return with what looks like way more choices than ever before. Here’s the game’s producer Tago to tell you all about it.

There system seems simple enough when a friendly face like Tago is leading us through it, but it also looks so dense that we’ll need some more time with it to really take advantage of it. We wonder just how many players will take the time to understand such a huge package when Soucalibur V comes out January 31. In the meantime, here are some more screens of the mode featuring nearly naked fighters.

That is cheeky, hilarious, and just plain awesome. I'm very happy to see devs having fun with a project!

Notice the substantial yet small amount of time spent showing booby customization.

Wow, way to really overhaul the character creation mechanics. Can't wait for this one.

The additions seem really substantial. Very impressive. I'm even more excited than I was before.

I hope you can choose a strictly Create a fighter weapon style, like in SC 3. I think 4 downgraded when they took the CaF styles away.

That's looking nearly as good as the WWE CAS mode (best creation mode ever!). But God, I just know my entire Soul Caliber V create-a-fighter roster is going to look like the dressing room to a Russ Meyer film. Or Benny Hill sketch.

I wasn't going to buy this game. But that is Forza level of customization in a fighter. I just can't resist!

This will drain so many hours. When I get the game I'll probably end up jumping straight into this instead of fighting.

    Yeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesssssssss

Digging the SC2 music used in the trailer.

Me too, I loved the music in SC2.

I want this now! Soul Calibur is the only fighting series I've ever liked, and the character customization was my favorite thing about IV. Plus, that was one of the funniest trailers I've ever seen.

I'd get this just for the character customization. Too bad I'm broke and probably won't make anything good.
  • CrashmanX - November 2, 2011 1:58 p.m.

So much customization. Guess I'll making every character I can imagine (Aka like the 9 ones I always make)

This just got me a whole lot more excited for Soul Calibur V. I'm not sure when I'll be able to pick it up with the insanity that is this holiday season, but this looks like a ton of fun.

    Lol, amazing.
