It's strange to see internet petitions work, but it looks like fan outcry from groups like Operation Rainfall is paying off. Last year it looked like Nintendo of America was going to pass on three well-received role playing games, Xenoblade Chronicles, Pandora's Tower, and The Last Story. Xenoblade was announced for the states a few months ago and now a second has been revealed for the US, as Nintendo has just said Last Story is coming out in the US some time this year.
As you can see by the above trailer, The Last Story is soon to be released in Europe, but now US fans can rest easy knowing XSEED Games will be publishing it some time this year in the US. In case you're unfamiliar, Last Story was developed by Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi and his team at Mist Walker, and garnered strong praise internationally.
We'll let you know a more specific date than "2012" as soon as one is announced, but for now JRPG fans should just bask in the warm, glowing, warming glow of this announcement. Meanwhile, Xenoblade Chronicles is out in the US on April 6, and at this point a US release of Pandora's Tower seems all but guaranteed.
