High-res photos of Sony's NGP, snapped at GDC

GDC 2011 is full of big displays with big screens and big logos, but one of the show's most notable attractions is a little glass box outside of Sony's booth - in it sits a shiny, constantly rotating NGP. Naturally, we pushed everyone out of the way, assumed a stabilizing squat position, and snapped away at it. We know you've already seen the device, but now you can see it in the wild, and really big! Below are our best shots - click them to enlargify:

3DS sleeker than the NGP?...fanboy spoted, dude, for what this thing hang on itself covered with such a slicky look, who the F would put this thing on the pocket?...I never puttered my psp in the pocket and couldn't{t for this as well, expecting 3DS and this, but dud, you gotta admit, this thing beat the f out of 3DS in beauty.

Looking good, but you'll most likely need some sort of box to carry it around, since those sticks are hanging out.

The system's design looks far less angular than the original PSP, which should make longer play sessions far more comfortable (no more psp claw). Also, the large screen size really comes across in the photos, as does the nicely concaved d-pad. The PS button looks a bit precariously placed though; what's to stop me accidently pressing it while I'm using the left stick?

God that's a horny piece of hardware.

I want this soooo much! I just hope it isnt made redundant by the iPhone5 or whatever it will be called. Hideo Kojima is right though, there needs to be a way of transferring your ps3 game onto the NGP so you can take your game on the move. Imagine playing MGS5 on your ps3, then going off to work and playing on the NGP from where you left off! A MA ZING!

How sleek! Still am a little torn up that my current psp games wont work on it. But more happy that UMD is gone.

Honestly, the PSP Go looks slicker than this. It's like a Lynx with more style. The 3DS pwns the NGP for sleekness. I'm mean, sure it'a box now, but you can't shove the NGP in your pocket without breaking the analog sticks off.

Are those analog sticks all plastic or rubber? It kind of looks like felt on the ends of them.

The dual sticks look awesome, but they look a little too tall ti fit comfortably in a pocket.

"It's a nut you can take outside!" now with two sticks!

Haha, PSP getting some love finally... Looking forward to this. Mainly looking forward to seeing more details on the Resistance and Uncharted games they've announced for it.

The two sticks is what sets it apart for gaming. The touchscreens, improved graphics and other functionality are nice additions, but at the end of the day, those two sticks ensure you will have a control system that is responsive enough for the most hardcore of games.

    NGP, I...

Those analogue sticks look so much more comfortable than the original psp stick/slider thing. My thumb would get so sore from the little plastic teeth digging in and they were gross to clean after extended use. I do hope the game line-up turns out better than the original psp's list. There were/are some great titles but they were few and fare between (plus most of them were ps1 re-releases). Anyway, pretty sexy looking. :)

ah, reminds me of when I first saw the PS3 at the EGS in Mexico City, back in 06... I drooled over it until people started making funny faces. WANT!
