Gears of War Triple Pack will offer two Gears of War games at a great price... hey, wait a minute

Microsoft has announced a new Xbox 360 bundle called the Gears of War Triple Pack, which will be available February 15. But wait, you say there are only two Gears of War games? How right you are...

The bundle includes Gears of War and Gears of War 2, AND a DLC pack for Gears of War 2, the "All Fronts Collection" add-on.

Sorry... when you see the big "Triple Pack" lettering at your local Best Buy, it doesn't mean the store got an early copy of Gears of War 3. That game is still not coming out until late this year.

But weirdness with the title aside, the bundle is available for $30, which is a significant discount over the original prices of the two games and the DLC pack. It's a very good deal... for Xbox 360 owners who would be interested in a game like Gears of War but somehow have never played Gears of War.

No DLC from the first game will be included with the package, but it's free on Xbox Live.

They did that with the Halo Triple Pack on the original Xbox. It had Halo 1 Halo 2 and a map pack for Halo 2

I'll be looking into this. I was dumbass and took my Gears 2 Christmas gift back and traded for COD WaW. Boy, was that stupid.

You can get the first Gears of War for $5 used at Gamestop, and the Gears of War 2 Game of the Year Edition (which includes the "All Fronts DLC") for $20 new, and a grand total of $25. That's less than $30 :P

@GorditaSlim I, too, would have issues if it were just three discs in one case. I'm weird like that. But if it was three separate cases in a slip cover (a la the Grand Theft Auto Collection), then it might be a different story.

Does anybody think this is a bit of a sneaky move by Epic? Or am I just cynical?
  • Rovert 09 - January 19, 2011 1:02 p.m.

They did the same with Halo. Anyone remember the Disc expansion to Halo 2? Of course Halo 1 didn't have any dlc.

if I could paraphrase Blackadder " then we have the three silly twerps .. the big joke being there's only two of them" The least Microsoft could do is give us a slug balancer

I have nothing against saving money, but I just hate bundle game packages. They just don't look good on a shelf to me. I'm picky. :]
  • cart00n - January 19, 2011 8:02 a.m.

Yeah, never picked the 2nd up, might be a good time...
  • Ironarm - January 19, 2011 5:49 a.m.

My Gears 1 disc is completely unplayable. I played the living crap out of that game when I had it. Some of my best memories with an online shooter come from Gears 1. I had Gears 2 but sold it due to my friends not having it. Never got the DLC. I am going to be getting this.
  • Defguru7777 - January 19, 2011 5:46 a.m.

As I already have both games and the All Fronts Pack, I won't be getting this.
  • Zepaw - January 19, 2011 5:01 a.m.

Gears is a mainstay on my will-eventually-play list. Might tick it off by purchasing this.
  • Fusionmix - January 19, 2011 3:20 a.m.

Just like the Halo triple-pack. Sounds like a good deal indeed.
  • DonNatzi - January 19, 2011 2:47 a.m.

Sounds right up my alley, have only played Gears 2 once, I want both games, and includes DLC. Plus my dad and I play a bunch of co-op games quite often so I should definitely be getting this sometime soon.
  • GamesRadarTylerWilde - January 19, 2011 2:05 a.m.

Noted and fixed - sorry about the balls up.

@DarkAthena13 You are indeed correct. Might wanna remove that last bit of snark, guys.
  • spfeif01 - January 19, 2011 1:49 a.m.

Meh, I just bought both games from Gamestop for a grand total of 10$

Last time I checked all the map packs for Gears of War 1 are free. I could be wrong
