Gamescom Dead Rising 2: Off the Record trailer is entertaining AND informative

For as much as we liked whatshisface… wait, hold one… we’ll remember it… Chuck! Right. Good old Chuck-o. Anyway, for as much as we liked Chuck in Dead Rising 2, Frank West will always be the zombie-killing lead of the Dead Rising series in our hearts. We fell in love with him in the original game, and we’re really excited to see him coming back in Off the Record, a budget-priced remake of the second Dead Rising that drops Frank into Fortune City to play through the events of the sequel. There are new weapons, new items, characters, vehicles, and upgrades, but most importantly of all, there’s the return of Frank West’s most powerful weapon. No, not his casual nudity: his camera. Take a look…

While we’d normally take offense to a straight-up remake so soon after a game’s release, we can’t help but squeal with joy over being able to play a full-fledged Dead Rising with Frank West back in the driver’s seat. Don’t get why we love Frank so much? Watch that trailer again, and we have a feeling you’ll understand. Also, he’s covered wars, you know.

Off the Record is due out in October—and we’re personally holding out for a Special Edition that comes with a crappy disposable camera. Come on, Capcom, make it so.

I think after having to deal with Adam the Clown in the last game, I don't think I would like clowns either....

I was somewhat disappointed with Dead Rising 2 also. I still really like the game, but...I just don't love it like I do the first one. I could go back and replay the first one again and again, but I got tired of DR2 after beating it the first time. If they have a lower price for Off the Record, it'll be a must-buy for me. Hopefully it'll be the game I was expecting from DR2.

Dead Rising 2 was my biggest disappointment in gaming yet. I'm usually really keen on reading lots of reviews and figuring out if I'll like a game or not, but I was WAY off this time. I can't believe I don't like a a game where you can make a hat out of power drills and stick it on a zombie's head. And yeah, dude totally looks like Dan Aykroyd. (All the younger people on here: "Who's Dan Aykroyd?")

When I look at this iteration of Frank, I can't help but think of Dan Aykroyd.

Why didn't they just have Frank as the hero in the sequel? Hopefully the game will cost less, because it's kinda silly to buy the same game twice just because of some changes.

Thats a seller! Also, dont get me wrong, I LOVE frank as much as the next guy but his DR2 incarnation just isnt the same, it must be his older look or his voice... @taokaka Technically yes, but its gonna be more different and have newer things.
