The Perks Of Being A Wallflower
has released a first official trailer featuring Logan Lerman, Emma Watson and Ezra Miller navigating the tricky coming-of-age journey through an American high school.
Adapted from the popular book by author Stephen Chbosky (who has also written the screenplay and will act as director), the film sees Lerman play introverted freshman Charlie, who finally finds his place in the world thanks to flamboyant new friends Sam (Watson) and Patrick (Miller).
Suddenly, teenage life doesn’t seem quite as unbearable as it previously had for Charlie. As Paul Rudd’s kindly English teacher points out, “if you make one friend on your first day, you’re doing OK.”
Take a look at the new trailer, below...
It all looks like fairly generic, coming-of-age fodder to us, but it will be interesting to see Miller and Watson in two very different roles from those that made them famous. Patrick is a world away from the sadistic Kevin, while Sam looks a lot less uptight than stuffy old Hermione.
The Perks Of Being A Wallflower opens in the US on 14 September 2012, with a UK date to follow. If learning life lessons from a group of precocious teenagers isn’t your thing, you might want to give it a wide berth...
