First screens for Uncharted 3: Drake's Deception released, online co-op confirmed

Hope you haven’t completely cooled down from this morning’s big news about Uncharted 3: Drake’s Deception, because Sony just released via its UK Blog some new info and the first screens for the title. Enjoy:

Above: Just because your plane crashes doesn't mean you can't strike a cool pose

Above: Nathan is perhaps thinking of how long he can feed on Sully should it come to that

Above: Hot enough for ya Drake? Haha, we're so funny

Above: This far away shot of we assume Drake as he tries to find his missing shoes

In the post Arne Meyer, Community Strategist for Naughty Dog, talked mainly in vague terms about the title and how awesome it is, though he revealed some key info. First, he mentioned that the quest that brings Nathan Drake and Sully to the desert is the search for “The Atlantis of the Desert.” It’s a lost city that’s apparently filled with terrible secrets, which is the only thing Nathan ever finds in mysterious, hidden cities.

Arne also mentions that players will be “taken to spectacular new locations around the globe...” Note that he wrote "locations", as in you’ll be going to more places than the desert, which is good, because after two games full of globetrotting similar to James Bond, we’d be disappointed if the whole game was all sand.

Above: Here’s the teaser trailer in case you missed it

He also wrote that the vs and co-op online multiplayer would return, though the campaign still sounds single-player focused, so we're not sure how different the online features will be from Uncharted 2, or if the main game will have any co-op options. Lastly, it was quickly mentioned that the game would be have stereoscopic 3D, which seems to be a real thrust of Sony's PS3 plans, as that feature is pretty key to Killzone 3.

We were left with the above screens to think on as we wait for a proper trailer during this Saturday’s Video Game Awards on Spike TV. After that, Jimmy Fallon revealed on his Twitter that on the following Monday he’ll have the first live demo of the game during his NBC talk show Late Night, so y’know, keep an eye out for that.

Drake looks more like Nick Lachey in these pictures that Nathan Fillion. Did anyone else notice the newspaper clipping that said something about a missing motorbike? It looked Rob Halford oriented, so I had to notice... And Bron, you're an r-tard.

So when he finds this "Atlantis in the Desert", how will he exactly steal it from guerrilla thugs and thieves? I mean El Dorado was a lost city of gold, which is a city well worth its weight in, well you know. But this lost city in a desert might not even be worth fighting for, why would it also be filled with treasures and jewels as far as the eye can see? Frankly, it could just be Detroit covered in sand. Also, will this be the game when Drake finally questions why he's just killing thousands of people over the course of his adventure? Or at least give it a thought?

What is it with the third entry in a series being in 3-D? Anyway, I am excited. Nuff said?

I can't listen to Nathan without thinking he's desmond from AC after losing his voice. (same voice actor, except he speaks more naturally in AC.)

Hey, after this comes the kart racer! Can't wait for that!

Uncharted 1 was a pretty cool game. Uncharted 2 was one of the best games of the decade in my opinion. The production quality was incredible. Can't wait for 3!

@ CH3BURASHKA: "On my want list is realistic camel riding, sandstorms (preferably flying a plane through it), and an oasis (which he reaches minutes from death by starvation)." -Better hope that oasis has some food floating in it then
  • Vulneratus - December 10, 2010 2:18 a.m.

Nate doesn't look happy I'm guessin' somebody told him who is gonna play him in the movie
  • CH3BURASHKA - December 10, 2010 2:05 a.m.

From the screenshots, all I'm seeing is "The Mummy: The Game". Can't wait to see more: I hope the VGA's have a real trailer as opposed to a teaser. On my want list is realistic camel riding, sandstorms (preferably flying a plane through it), and an oasis (which he reaches minutes from death by starvation).

Is it just me, or does something about his head in the third picture seem a bit... off?
  • Yaro - December 10, 2010 1:42 a.m.

I would really like to see Nate sporting some serious case of beard, he looks more and more seasoned. DiCaprio and Ezio for example look better with beards bet Drake would look awesome too. =3

Is it safe to call Uncharted the new Tomb Raider? Looks great so far. I expect a late 2011- early 2012 release.
