We aren’t going to mask our unabashed love for Spider-Man, but we also won’t lie when we say his last couple games haven’t been that good. Both Shattered Dimensions and Edge of Time had interesting concepts but were executed in the most painfully average way possible. The developer of those titles, Beenox, is creating the next Spidey game, Amazing Spider-Man, which is based on the upcoming film of the same name. Today Beenox used its Twitter to give fans a first real look at the game, as the dev posted three pieces of concept art.
The two locale pics are nice if mundane, as we see the lobby of an Oscorp building, which increases the odds we’ll see Norman Osborn if not his Green Goblin alter ego. The other shot looks like a makeshift lab and leads us to believe this is where Peter Parker homebrews his web fluid, since the film marks the return of Spider-Man’s mechanical web shooters to the franchise. In the last one we finally get to see Spidey, but he’s a pretty inactive hero in the shot, just watching some guys rob a bank or something.
Also worth noting is that when Beenox head Dee Brown posted the same images, he alluded to an official trailer, something we’ll hopefully see sooner rather than later. Sure, we saw a crummy YouTube video, but it’d be nice to see something with better quality than a cell phone camera. Regardless, we’ll stay optimistic for Amazing Spider-Man as it returns the hero to his open world roots, and will watch for its launch around the July release of the film.
