Final Fantasy X: HD remake in early development, producer Kitase on board

Tenth-anniversary reissues of Final Fantasy X are in the early stages of development for PlayStation 3 and Vita, says German games publication M! Games (via Siliconera). The reissues,  first hinted at during last year's Tokyo Game Show, will be receiving an HD release this year and is officially being overseen by original producer Yoshinori Kitase.

FFX, a relatively early release on the PlayStation 2, was the series' first foray into full 3D, an innovation that showcased the PS2's power perfectly, as the game remains one of the prettiest titles in the history of either Final Fantasy or the PS2. This year's HD remake will give players the opportunities to avoid Blitzball, stick their fingers in their ears whenever Wakka shows up onscreen, and be utterly confused by the final hour's worth of plot twists – all in sparkly smooth 1080p. Seeing as this is exactly what we asked for a little over a year ago, can we get the ball rolling on a high-def FFXII next?

It is not a remake. It kind of relieves me because I want it to be exacly like it was - dialogue, voices, everything.

I absolutely love FFX but I would hate for there to be complete remake. It wouldn't be the same. I don't want different music or voice actors. I just want it to be same as the original except for upgraded graphics and minimal bugs. HOWEVER, I would love to get the extra features like in the PAL version: The Dark Aeons. Although personally, I don't think FFX needs a remake now. I played it recently and it doesn't look that dated. Now if they were to remake FF6-9, I'm golden..Except for 8 because I hate that one..and 13. *shudders*

Will be getting this. It's one of my fave PS2 games ever (Below Disgaea series, and Kingdom Hearts)... Now I just need Kingdom Hearts I and II with a HD Remake, alongside an announcement for Kingdom Hearts III (On the PS3 or PS4 plz!) and I'll be pleased as punch ^_^

I thought KH3DS was KH3... damn. I'm hoping it is Wii U exclusive for a while and then maybe ported to the PS4 with upscale graphics and some new features...

A complete remake... YEEEEEEEEESSSSSS! This game is the ONLY reason I bother to get a PS2! I hope they get Billy West to voice Tidus this time around(his voice is similar and he is a better voice actor), Lol if they got Katy Sagal to play Yuna then it would be kind of like Final Fansarama!

No one has said it will be a complete remake, but the rumors have been-a-flying. If its just an upscale and texture update, than I can't help but wonder why we haven't heard anything about it since the announcement. Or perhaps why they mention "development" at all.
