Final Fantasy X HD first footage revealed

Final Fantasy X HD is still happening, Square Enix reminded the world in Sony's PlayStation Vita media blowout yesterday. The publisher is kind of notorious for letting projects get away from it, but Square Enix producer Shinji Hashimoto quelled our fears when he revealed the first few moments of footage running on the portable system (video snippet via Polygon).

Yuna and Tidus are looking much smoother in their new upscaled incarnations--Square has made it clear this is more of a remastering than a remake, with graphical improvements as the only major alteration. Original producer Yoshinori Kitase is overseeing the transition to PS3 and PS Vita.

We might see more of the star crossed pair in the near future, as Hashimoto announced Final Fantasy X HD is coming soon.

I suppose I'll use my vita to play FF for the first time. I hope it's as good as everyone says.

Excuse me while I have a mini spaz attack.

i hope this really helps the vita and i will definitely be getting this when it comes out :)

YES. The BEST FF game in my opinion. Great story, even the PS2 version looks great today. Let me invest the next 389+ hours into it...

As much as I loved Final Fantasy X as my first FF. I'd rather have XII remastered. It had a better world and a better story. Give me XII.

I'd buy the hell out of this, then maybe if it sells well we'll get a HD remaster of XII. I'm not too fussed about X-2 in all honesty.

So long as it still comes to PS3... : | FFX was pretty damn hype, remake probably won't add anything except like...HDness >.> HD blitzball YEAAAHHH

This is still coming to the PS3 and not just the Vita, right? I really don't want to pick up a Vita at the moment just to get FFX HD with the incoming of the next console generation

Oh you cheeky bastard, bring it on!!!!!!
  • KA87 - February 18, 2013 12:18 p.m.

Man, I miss Blitzball. Brother was by far the best player on my team.

I hope they follow this up with a remastering of 9. That game deserves to be played by more people, and was unfairly hurt by being released so late in the PS2 lifecycle. Putting it on the vita may give it the fighting chance it deserves.

...I think you meant the PS1 lifecycle. And I didn't think FFIX was that great, but then again, It definitely would deserve a remasterization far more than X.
  • ventanger - February 19, 2013 10:37 a.m.

Derp, you are the right. Here I am, knowing that 10 was the first FF for the PS2, and then say that 9 came out at the end of the PS2 lifecycle. Guess the secret it out: I didn't even play 9 :\
  • oryanbelt - February 18, 2013 3:03 p.m.

Same, I would love a remastering of FFIX. It was my first FF that I played and what got me into the series in the first place. I would do back flips if that ever got announced

This, along with the (possible) price drop is definitely making me lean towards getting a vita. All they need to do is cut the price of those ridiculously expensive vita mem cards and I'm on board.

COOL! Except, well, out of all the Final Fantasies, X? Not saying it should be like, VII, heck no, but X? If people like the fact that its X, then thats great and honestly theres no bad reason, but rather if there was any reason they decided to choose X over the rest.
  • oryanbelt - February 18, 2013 3:11 p.m.

I remember a while back that they mainly chose it since its was easier to remaster a PS2 game than any of the older series.
  • lordgodalming - February 18, 2013 7:55 p.m.

X is defintely my favorit in the series (the only one I haven't played is FFII for the Famicon). My only disappointment is that this isn't a full PS2 era collection with X-2 and XII.

Cool... but this remake should have made it to the vita like... half a year ago. It could have used it then.
