Duke Nukem Forever demo comes June 3 according to sly new trailer

Whether you like Duke Nukem and his antics or find him lowbrow, you have to admit that the developer Gearbox has been doing a pretty good job of advertising Duke Nukem Forever. Randy Pitchford, Gearbox’s chief, talks about it with obvious passion and it can be pretty infectious. In Pitchford’s most recent update, things seemed a little fishy, but ultimately it’s filled with good news. Watch and see what we mean:

So Duke’s still on track for his June 14 in the US release date, while the UK gets it earlier for a change on June 10, and while we wait we’ll have a demo to enjoy on June 3. If the staging of this cheeky video didn’t make much sense, watch Pitchford’s previous update on the game:

It really does seem like we’ll at long last have Duke Nukem Forever, which is something you're never prepared for as a games journalist. Looks like we won’t have Duke Nukem to kick around any more.

I have early access on June 3rd thanks to owning Borderlands GOTY edition, got an email about it the other day. Sounds like you can also get it by pre-ordering the game. I guess it will come to everyone else a few days later.

Ok Correction. Sorry apparently demo is only available for 'private members' (i.e. pre orders) before game's release date. Initially it was early access NOT exclusive access. Although I'm sure the demo WILL be available to all gamers. Just Post-release date (ala COD games) which yea I agree makes no sense to me either. But what are we to do :P

Ok guys the demo IS coming to all NON pre-order gamers as well. But pre-ordering gives early access to the demo. That's all. so please quit complaining. and while you're at it, also stop complaining about paying for xbox live. Yes we pay for it. it's $60 a year... A YEAR. That's it. Cable and/or satellite is easily $50 - $100/ month. Internet (high speed) on average is $50 a month. If you're complaining about a $60 a year price tag how do you afford the internet, food, shelter, games for your system etc.? And yes PSN is free... They've also been shut down by hackers for a month and (from what my PS3 owning friends tell me), is that the PSN service is somewhat buggy/glitchy/unpredictable. So you get what you pay for. I'll gladly pay $60/year to get a reliable good functioning gaming service.

AWESOME. In a way. I have more time to save up. So, if the demo's out the 3rd, that gives me 2 weeks to try it and decide if ima buy it?
  • Eaxis - May 17, 2011 1:42 p.m.

I'm not pre ordering to get a demo. The demo should be free to get people interested in bying the game.
  • RicePuddingUK - May 17, 2011 8:06 a.m.

Yay! A demo! Boo! For private members. If you want to stick a private demo on a service I PAY FOR make it accessible for everyone!! It's like paying your taxes and getting no water or electricity in return!

I'm happy that this is happening. I already played a demo at PAX. But it will be nice to not be timed and have a good deep look at the game. Can't wait for my pre order of the Balls of Steel Edition to come home

Don't worry industry journalists, you'll always have Episode 3.
  • Gameguy94 - May 17, 2011 2:29 a.m.

Pitchford sometimes annoys me with his over enthusiasm, but you warm up to him after you realize it comes from his passion for the games he makes.

Only FPS I've ever been truly hyped for.
