The Wii's Donkey Kong Country Returns is set to give its 2.5D shenaningens a boost to 3D later this year by way of a remake for the 3DS. Currently slated for summer, the aptly named Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D is a "built from the ground up" remaster of the 2010 Wii game by Metroid Prime developer Retro Studios.
The remake is certainly a good fit for the 3DS. The original game makes heavy use of layered play fields and depth of field effects for a great deal of in and out of screen gameplay. Those wanting to check out how well the effect translates to 'real' 3D can check out a gameplay video that has just gone live on the 3DS' eShop.
