Darkness II CG-filled launch trailer reminds us game comes out February 7

One of the first new IPs to really hit a nerve with players when the “next-gen” began, The Darkness had great storytelling moments to match an inventive approach to FPS action. Players were clamoring for years for the comic-inspired shooter to get a sequel, and now it’s finally happening. In case you forgot all about it, this launch trailer for Darkness II should jog your memory of the upcoming release.

That’s a pretty fancy opening and sets up the plot fairly well, but it’s sorely lacking in any actual gameplay. If you’re interested in what the actual game looks like, we’ve got a clip for you too, and it involves pulling skulls out of rear ends.

If you’re looking for something a tad more informative, we’ve also got this extended walkthrough of the recent demo you can currently download on 360, PC, and PS3. The game hits stores February 7 and comes to the UK February 10.

The demo is fantastic. Once you get used to the demon arm controls, it just flows so well, and it managed to get me interested in the story, too. Try it out.

Jackie is channeling his inner Adam Jenson at the beginning of that trailer.

I like how they used "The Mark Has Been Made" by Nine Inch Nails. Game looks great too, I loved the demo I just wish I could buy the full game.

As a fan of the first game this one is terrible! Why did they not get the original voice actors that did Jackie and The Darkness in the first game they was perfect , and why can't you use the darkness to break lights like the first ? The re-design of the tendril heads look off especially the one with the excessive under bite, the darkling companion is a poor attempt at humor, the art style is a little too cartoony (and I do realize they probably could not get Starbreeze's engine but still) and by playing the demo I am truly disappointed because after finishing the first game I really wanted to play more but this is definitely not what I expected.
