Christopher Nolan confirms Inception game... DUNNNNN

Christopher Nolan has confirmed that a game set in the world of Inception is being developed. The film, which premiered in July, has earned over $800,000,000 worldwide, making it the third highest-grossing film of 2010 thus far.

"I always imagined Inception to be a world where a lot of other stories could take place," said Nolan to Inside Movies, adding, "At the moment, the only direction we're channeling that is by developing a videogame set in the world."

Nolan didn't reveal any further details, except that the game is "a longer-term proposition" and that videogames are a medium he "wants to explore." DUNNNNNNNN.

We're always nervous about movie games, but it's a bit different when a director like Nolan is the one doing the talking. It seems unlikely that he'd toss Inception into the gears of a B-grade licened game cash machine. But even so, creating a game based on Inception's free-form meta-meta-meta-meta-(meta?) dream worlds will be challenging.

How would you like to see the game handled? An open-dreamworld action RPG? An MMO in limbo?

If anyone made this game I'd want it to be developed by Naughty Dog. Who agrees?

I think it's going to be absolutely awful unless handled like a nuclear device - very carefully.

As long as it is not too combat focused. Maybe more like Heavy Rain or Trace Memory. Or old school point-and-click. But more interactive.

Maybe an AC type game where you don't disturb the other's conscience, add in teamwork ie. forger, architect, potion guy, and this might not be that bad

If they turn this into another shooter, I'll be pissed! As someone above suggested this should be in the style of Uncharted 2, where the story is the primary focus.

I trust Nolan. I hope it's gta style gameplay with crazy dreamscapes and such. It'll be interesting to see what he does with it.

Gawd, I'm scared and excited at the same time.

@FinderKeeper - Exactly what I was thinking. It's a great idea, but I can't imagine how they'll get all of the nuances of the movie into one genre. If it ever gets made. Like a lot of you, I'm not holding my breath.

Nice! Hope this works out. They could do so much with this, an endless possibility of dreams and levels to make up. :D

I wonder if this one will get canned later on just like damn near every game with a big director attached to it...
