The title was released in Japan in 2006, but has finally gotten an American release in August 2008. Gameplay breaks down from a central menu giving access to a shop (called the smithy), the eq. room where you can manage your character's equipment, the mission meny which offers the main missions, and find work which is where you can jobs from the ten different kingdoms. The ability to converse with your commanders is also sometimes available, at times offering a means of unlocking certain missions. Combat is a turn-based affair, with different attacks having different attributes. A breakdown of the possible "burst" attributes are as follows: Normal: The attack will not move a struck enemy Launch: The attack will raise a struck enemy into the air Knockdown: The attack will knock a struck enemy to the ground Knockback: The attack will knock a struck enemy backwards Pull: The attack will pull a struck enemy towards the attacker There are also possible status ailments that can be inflicted by some attacks: Blind: Accuracy is cut by half Poison: Damage will be inflicted on the affected character every turn Silence: Specials and skills are unusable Slow: Affected character goes last every turn Overweight: Movement is reduced by two The friendship gauge, called "morale" at other points in the game as well, will build up as you inflict damage on enemies. Likewise it will decrease as your characters receive damage. There are three levels to the bar. At one level you can perform an "assist" attack with an ally who borders the enemy under attack, depleting one bar length. For two bars you can perform a "teamwork" action. This allows you to give a character an extra turn during another character's attack. For three bars you can perform a "battle formation" where all of your characters on the battlefield will attack an unlucky enemy at the same time. Depending on the elemental alignment of your partymembers, a number of different effects will follow the attack. Whichever element is most common is the effect that will occur. Once the battle ends you will lose Judo permanently, so spread the experience to everyone else as much as you can. Cassius and Dragan will also leave for a while, although you will get them back soon enough that it is not a waste to try and level them as well. |========================================| | Section 3.1.03 [MHR1] Monster Hunter 1 | |========================================| Mission Level: 1 Prerequisites: Complete Prologue 2 Victory Conditons: Reach destination or eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies defeated Enemy Units: Hiyoko x5, Killer Bee x5, Dogman x1 Chest Items: Earth Band, Fire Band, Force Ring, Healer Ring, Iron Armor, Iron Breast, Stamina Ring, Water Band, Wind Band, Wisdom Ring Once you reach the capital you will have access to this mission. As you cannot yet find any work, take this mission once you are done with the blacksmith. There are five waves of enemies to this mission, so don't let the large number of enemy units fool you. The first wave consists of just one Hiyoko. On turn two two Killer Bees will appear opposing your starting positon. Kill the Hiyoko and claim the initial chests, then move Begina to the ledge overlooking the location of the Killer Bees. Wait for them to approach, then kill them. Keep Diaz out of their range initially, moving in only to heal as enemies will flock to him. With the second wave down, move towards the exit, but do not leave. A single Killer Bee will appear near it, so kill it and claim the chests. Move back down and to the pond where two Hiyokos and one Killer Bee now wait. Kill them, moving in to heal only when needed to avoid losing Diaz. Once they die, the last wave appears, consisting of two more Hiyokos, one Killer Bee, and a Dogman. Kill the Dogman first, then the Hiyokos. If you want the chests behind the enemies, you will need to keep one alive and run to them with Begina. This Is really not that hard to do if you heal Begina with Diaz to full before heading for the chests. Upon completion of Monster Hunter 1, Dragan will rejoin the party. |==================================| | Section 3.1.04 [POWR] POW Rescue | |==================================| Mission Level: 1 Prerequisites: Complete Monster Hunter 1 Victory Conditions: Defeat all guards Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or the hostage is killed Enemy Units: Dm Archer x3, Dm Priest x1, Dm Swordsman x8, Dm Warrior x1 Chest Items: Bowstring, Lead Ore Again you cannot yet find missions and must select this one to continue, Once you start this mission, Cassius will rejoin the party as well. Equip him with whatever you can and begin. Move on the demons on the lower landing first, keeping towards the water to avoid the enemies on the next landing up. After they are dead, move on the priest and then the other two demons on the second landing. Once the second landing is cleared, the Dm Warrior will come after you. Wait for him and take him out away from his friends. For the final landing, slide in along one wall or the other and towards a group of enemies. If you stay away from the middle of the red carpet, the three enemy units on the opposite side of the landing will not approach you. Once you take out one side, move to the other to finish the mission. Once all the demons are defeated, Eunice will be rescued and will join the party. This will also open up the option to find work with the Army of Flauster and a number of level one and level two missions with them. Skip down to their mission section for more information on what they have to offer. |========================================| | Section 3.1.05 [GEO1] Geomancy Lines 1 | |========================================| Mission Level: 2 Prerequisites: Complete two attacks on enemy nations Victory Conditons: Reach target destination within 10 turns Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or failed to arrive at the destination in 10 turns Enemy Units: Dm Archer x3, Dm Sorceror x2, Dm Swordsman x7 Chest Items: Copper Ore Initially there is only one archer, one sorceror, and three swordsman. After the second turn, four more swordsman will appear. After the fourth turn, two archers and one more sorceror will appear. Rush on the bridge and attack the swordsman as you do. Your goal is to reach your destination on the other side, so do not focus entirely on fighting. Instead, send one of your partymembers through, running for the exit, while the other four focus on thinning the Overlord's ranks. Once you reach the exit, you will move on to Geomancy Lines 2. |========================================| | Section 3.1.06 [GEO2] Geomancy Lines 2 | |========================================| Mission Level: 2 Prerequisites: Complete Geomancy Lines 1 Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of Diaz Enemy Units: Dm Archer x3, Dm Sorceror, Dm Swordsman x5, Dm Warrior x9 Chest Items: Blue Soul, God Tree Branch, White Bone, White Soul Initially you will be facing five swordsman at about half health. Take them out quickly, as after turn two, four warriors and two archers will appear near the northern chests. After turn five, five more warriors, another archer, and a sorceror will appear near the further chests. Diaz has a new spell, Earth Guardian, so be sure to take full advantage of this to deal with the demons that keep pouring in. He can only use it when on a geomancy line right now, but it has a much higher range than anything you have seen thus far. It also hits everyone within its range, so be ready for any cluster of enemy forces. If you keep up with eliminating the groups of enemies before the next one appears, this mission is not bad. If you fall behind, however, your forces can be quickly routed. Also keep in mind that the only character who must survive is Diaz. As long as he lives through the mission, you can still win, so if you must sacrifice someone, make it someone else. |=================================================| | Section 3.1.07 [SPLY] Supply Line in the Desert | |=================================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Two kingdoms destroyed Victory Conditions: Begina survives for 10 turns or defeat Jadou Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of Begina Enemy Units: Dm Archer x3, Dm Sorceror x3, Dm Swordsman x8, Jadou Chest Items: Angel Feather, Cotton Thread, Crimson Tear, Crystal, Lead Ore, Rare Pearl If this is your first playthrough, you're not beating Jadou. Instead fall back to near the chests and wait for the demons to come to you. Slay them as they approach. Depending on your levels, you may have to sacrifice your other partymembers to keep Begina alive. Do so by pulling Begina to the back and creating a human shield if you must. When Jadou starts his tenth turn, the mission will end. |======================================| | Section 3.1.08 [STR?] The Strongest? | |======================================| Mission Level: 1 Prerequisites: Complete Supply Line in the Desert Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or retreat of Inuou Enemy Units: Hiyoko x4, Killer Bee x4 Chest Items: Copper Ore, Cotton Thread, Lead Ore, Mercury Ore, Moon Fang Probably the easiest character recruitment mission, Inuou can handle two to three of the enemies here by himself. Send two of your fighters to go help him mop up the enemies, while sending the rest to break open the crates and collect some item making materials. Inuou joins the Norius Mercenaries upon completion of this mission. |==============================================| | Section 3.1.09 [MINR] Retrieve Rare Minerals | |==============================================| Mission Level: 1 Prerequisites: Destroy the Meimai Knights and complete Supply Line in the Desert Victory Conditons: Recover the particular treasure Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of Begina Enemy Units: Devil Knight x4, Hm Sorcerer, Ninja x4, Rifleman, Thief x4 Chest Items: Blue Soul, Bowstring, Pierce Stone, Piercing Grass, Yellow Soul This mission is really about recruiting Trick Blue and is somewhat unintuitive. On turn two Trick Blue will appear in the north and start heading for the chests you are trying to retrieve. Inside one of them is an item called Piercing Grass. You need to find it before him, then when he asks for it, give it to him to enlist his aid. |===========================================| | Section 3.1.10 [FORM] A Former Key Figure | |===========================================| Mission Level: 1 Prerequisites: Complete Supply Line in the Desert and then converse with Cassius about a "former key figure" Victory Conditons: Begina arrives at the specified area Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of Begina Enemy Units: Dogman x4, Goblin Sldr x1, Killer Bee x4, Steel Bug x1 Chest Items: n/a This mission will probably net you your first achievement and first non-default character. Shimazwei wields a gun and can attack from long range. To get him, Begina must make it to the exit area where he is standing. The enemies here are very easy, at least until you get to the goblin. In order to hurt him, you need to use Begina to launch him into the air, then use Dragan to knock him back to the ground. Once the goblin is on its back, it can be hurt and killed. At the exit is a steel bug. This enemy is invincible. Blow the explosives up and move across to the exit. Shimazwei will join the Norius Mercenaries when Begina ends a turn on the exit. |==========================================| | Section 3.1.11 [ADLC] Aid Local Commerce | |==========================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Destroy the Meimai Knights and complete Supply Lines in the Desert Victory Conditons: Eliminate all ghosts Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or retreat of Rimm Enemy Units: Big Pol x5, Dark Knight x1, Pol x3, Pol Pol x4 Chest Items: The mission begins with just three pols surrounding Rimm. Thankfully she is at a high enough level that she will kill one or two of them before you even reach her. When you do reach her, four pol pols will appear to the north. After you have killed all but one of them, five big pols and a dark knight will appear. It is best to not split your forces here. The pols can all fly over the ridge in the center, so hunker down near Rimm and let them come to you. To recruit Rimm, Diaz must be present and survive the mission. |=========================================| | Section 3.1.12 [SASQ] Sasquatch Rampage | |=========================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Complete Supply Lines in the Desert Victory Conditions: Defeat sasquatches Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Sasquatch x8 Chest items: Burning Fluid Make sure you have six partymembers before attemtping this mission and bring Dragan. Move on the northern group of sasquatches first and make use of your assist and teamwork abilites. Once they go down, follow suit with the southern group. Make sure to keep Begina and Dragan alive. You want to kill them as quickly as possible, save one until Mayura appears. Most likely this will not be a problem, but if you are at a high enough level that it is, just wait for the ice witch to appear. When she does, ignore the ghosts that appear with her and finish off the last saquatch. Once it is defeated, Begina and Mayura will have a brief conversation and she will join the party. |============================================| | Section 3.1.13 [SUSP] Suspicious Neighbors | |============================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Complete Supply Lines in the Desert Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Dm Archer x2, Dm Sorcerer x2, Dm Swordsman x6, Lamia Chest Items: n/a Do not attempt this mission until after you have recruited Mayura or you will miss out on recruiting Lamia. When you do try it, bring Mayura. Take out the two demons in front of Lamia, then move mayura in. Have Mayura attack Lamia, prompting the two to converse about the old days. Lamia will depart, leaving you to finish off the demons. As long as Mayura survives the battle, when you win Lamia will join your party. |==================================| | Section 3.1.14 [EVAL] Evaluation | |==================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Destroy the Meimai Knights and complete Supply Lines in the Desert Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Anita, Hm Archer x2, Hm Sorcerer x3, Thief x12 Chest Items: Burning Fluid, Evil Fingerbone, White Bone This mission is really annoying if you want to recruit Anita. To do so, you must perform a 21 hit combo total. Note that this does not mean 21 hits on a single enemy, just a total combo count of 21 hits. This can be really frustrating and will probably present your first major troubles in trying to recruit a character. Here is how I did it. I took a party of that included Begina, Cassius, and Mayura. I destroyed the initial group of enemies using standard tactics, except I used my specials very liberally in order to raise my gauge. Using Diaz I got Mayura's SP all the way full. With the first group destroyed, I moved my forces toward the second group and put Cassius out in front so he was the only partymember the second group of thieves could reach. They came in and lined up, each performing their shine dagger move. This did lower my gauge, but it got them in a line three deep. I moved Mayura in and used living waters on them four times in a row. This took me well over the limit, but to be safe I used teamwork and had Begina use his thunder blade twice in a row. When you have performed your combo... nothing will happen. Wipe out the remaining enemies, including Anita, and end the mission. When you do, Anita will appear and after a short conversation join the party. |============================================| | Section 3.1.15 [BAUB] Retrieve the Baubles | |============================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Destroy the Meimai Knights and complete Retrieve Rare Minerals Victory Conditons: Recover the particular treasure Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of either Dragan or Kiratt Enemy Units: Ninja x6, Rifleman x3, Thief x8 Chest Items: Crystal, Lead Ore, Mercury Ore, Piercing Grass, Pixie Dust Do not attempt this mission until your whole party is a minimum of level twenty-five. This is a lot like Retrieve Rare Minerals, except a lot harder. The mission begins with three ninjas, four thieves, and two riflemen. However every time you open a chest, more enemies will appear. Because of this, it is best to simply avoid opening chests. the item you want is in the chest farthest from you, so kill the enemies near you and move directly to the other group and open the chest. Successfully complete the mission to add Kiratt to the party. |===========================================| | Section 3.1.16 [IMPR] Imprisoned Sorcerer | |===========================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Defeat the Elf Alliance and buy a steel breast from the smithy Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or the retreat of Primrose Enemy Units: Hm Archer x2, Hm Sorcerer x3, Hm Swordsman x10 Chest Items: White Bone You'll recognize this as the same map as Monster Hunter 1, only now it is filled with human soldiers, presumably from the Army of Flauster. Split your forces, sending about half towards Primrose's position and the other half at the nearest group of human soldiers. Once you eliminate the group guarding Primrose, the other two groups will advance. That is why it is good to take out the smaller group away from her before the two groups can merge into one. When there are about three enemy units left, two sorcerers and two swordsman will appear near Primrose. They do not seem to be interested in Primrose, so mop them up to recruit her into your growing army. |================================================| | Section 3.1.17 [GOBN] The Trouble with Goblins | |================================================| Mission Level: 4 Prerequisites: Attain mercenary rank 4 Victory Conditions: Defeat 10 goblins Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Big Mama, Culcha, Goblin Sldr x16 Chest Items: Battle Orb, Copper Ore, Crimson Tear, Crystal, Gold Dust, Gunpowder, Lead Ore, Silver Ore, White Bone If you have recruited Shimazwei, breath a sigh of relief as the goblin soldiers here do not behave as they did on his recruitment mission; you can kill them in a normal fashion. The first two times you attack Culcha, all the goblins on the map will gain SP and become stronger. Taking her down to about a quarter of her health will cause her to flee. Your best bet is to stay in the center and let the goblins come to you, killing them as they climb to the mesa you are on. While it is possible to win with killing Culcha, doing so will force you to eliminate all enemies, not just ten of them. Completing this mission will net you Culcha as a playable character. |===============================================| | Section 3.1.18 [UNM1] Unidentified Monsters 1 | |===============================================| Mission Level: 5 Prerequisites: Attain mercenary rank 5 Victory Conditions: Defeat fiends Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of Begina Enemy Units: Dark Knight x10, Kodama x2, Zog, Zok Chest Items: Crystal, Empty Shell, Iron Ore, Moon Fang, Pixie Dust, Priest Talisman, Silver Breast Zog and Zok will beat up on the invicible knights until you move into their range, so approach at your leisure. As soon as you hit one or the other, two kodamas and six dark knights will appear where you started, so make sure your whole party is on the bridge before you attack. Damaging Zog and Zok is not the problem, it's surviving their attacks. Both of them will likely be able to kill a magic user in one combo and almost kill a fighter class character. Zog and Zok are the only ones you need to kill to win. You do not need to go for a S rank here, just focus on them and if you lose some partymembers, which you probably will, just keep pounding on them until you win. Upon completion of this mission Diaz will learn the ability Earthen Grave. |===============================================| | Section 3.1.19 [UNM2] Unidentified Monsters 2 | |===============================================| Mission Level: 6 Prerequisites: Attain mercenary rank 6 Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Dark Knight x10, Devil Knight x6, Kodama x3, Zog, Zok Chest Items: Bowstring, Evil Fingerbone, Iron Ore, Magic Orb, Mithril, Pixie Dust This time you have to kill their friends, so start with the group of dark knights in the middle. The enemy units around Zog and Zok will start moving on you as you do, so take them out next. Move to the group of enemies in the far corner. Do not open any of the chests as this will cause the enemy reinforcements to arrive. On turn five, Zog and Zok will begin moving on you. Hopefully you are fighting the far enemies, forcing them to take a turn or two to get to you and giving you the time you need to finish them off. When Zok and Zog are in range, break off whatever attack you have going on the knights and focus solely on them until you kill them both. With them gone, finish off the remaining enemy units to secure the win. |===================================| | Section 3.1.20 [MBLD] Mixed Blood | |===================================| Mission Level: 5 Prerequisites: Elf Alliance destroyed and complete Unidentified Monsters 2 Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or retreat of Lillia Ple Enemy Units: Hm Sorcerer x4, Hm Swordsman x14 Chest Items: Evil Fingerbone Lillia Ple is far from defenseless, so the fact that she is surrounded is not a huge hurdle to overcome. Split your forces, sending three towards the elf swordsman and three towards Lillia Ple. Make sure you send Dragan in the group going towards Lillia Ple to engage her in dialogue. Once the attackers around Lillia Ple are dead, four more enemy units will appear near her location. The same will occur when you clear those around the elf swordsman, and again after you clear them from where the elf swordsman is. If Dragan survives through this whole onslsaught, you will recruit Lillia Ple. |============================================| | Section 3.1.21 [TTUN] Terror in the Tundra | |============================================| Mission Level: 5 Prerequisites: Recruit Mayura and Lamia and complete Unidentified Monsters 2 Victory Conditions: Defeat Sugata and her troops Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of Mayura or Lamia Enemy Units: Dm Archer x2, Dm Sorcerer x2, Dm Swordsman x10, Sugata Mission Chest: To recruit Sugata you must kill all of her minions, then her. To do this, take out the group immediately in front of you first. From there you need to make your way around, past Sugata's group, and to the other group. Do this by hugging the crystal in the middle and moving along it as you pass by Sugata's group. You need to run along the entire length of the crystal in one go, so this can be time consuming doing it one at a time. Alternately, you can draw Sugata's bodyguards out to you by just standing about level with the crystal's face and kill them, then dash over to the other group and fighting them with Sugata remains at a distance. She may attack with long range strikes, but she won't be overly aggressive if you stay off the raised area she is on. Either way, you still need to defeat Sugata. She should not be much of a hassle without her friends, just watch Lamia and Mayura's health and make sure you don't lose because one of them gets killed. |========================================| | Section 3.1.22 [GHST] A Wave of Ghosts | |========================================| Mission Level: 5 Prerequisites: Destroy the Espiloia Knights Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated or retreat of Langeais Enemy Units: Big Pol x8, Zombie x8 Mission Chest: Crystal, Lead Ore, Mercury Ore, Rare Pearl Enemies are kinda all over the place here and all of them will probably be moving about from the get-go. Climb up towards Langeais and let them come to you. On the narrow path they will bunch up, limiting their ability to attack and allowing you to hit them with group shots. As you would expect, killing the first group will cause a second group to spawn. Repeat the same startegy with them as before. Do not break any of the boxes as leaving them be will hinder the enemy's movements. Once Chris starts moving then things get interesting. If you want to recruit Chris, you cannot kill him. That means you have to take the blows he deals and just heal. Do eliminate his posse, but avoid hitting him if possible. She is disguised as a dark elf priest, the one at level thirty-five. Send Begina towards her and hit her once to reveal her as the dark elf princess. From now on she is off limits. Once you have killed about half the enemies, the reinforcements will arrive. Work on them and ignore Regal Lily. Killing them will result in a third wave appearing, but by then the battle will almost be over. On turn ten the battle will end and Regal Lily will talk with Begina. When she asks if she can exact her revenge on General Ludora, respond with "of course" to recruit her. |=======================================| | Section 3.1.29 [FTWM] Forest Watchman | |=======================================| Mission Level: 5 Prerequisites: Destroy the Elf Alliance and complete Unidentified Monsters 2 Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: D. With that in mind, just focus on eliminating the enemy. Iceberg and Prominent are the two biggest threats, but neither seems overly aggressive here. |=========================================| | Section 3.1.30 [LWAC] Wandering Samurai | |=========================================| Mission Level: 3 Prerequisites: Attain high mercenary rank Victory Conditions: Arrive at the specified location Conditions of Defeat: HP of an ally reaches under 10% Enemy Units: Foot Soldier x9, Ninja x3, Rifleman x4 Mission Chest: empty Shell, Moon Fang This mission can be a real pain given that you must bring Eunice, Cassius, Dragan, and Culcha into battle. If you have been using superior partymembers, which you probably have, then they are probably underpowered when you get this mission. If that is the case, level them up a bit on some random hunting missions until they are about level twenty-five or so. Unlike most missions, every single enemy unit here will come gunning for you as soon as the battle starts. Given the defeat condition, it is best to initially stay put and let the enemy come to you, constantly healing as they do. The enemy units are all in the mid-teens levelwise and can be picked off one-by-one as they approach. Once they are all dead, move to the exit to begin dialogue with Rengeki. When prompted, say "We're mercenaries." Once all the enemy units are defeated, Margaret will engage you in dialogue. Pass each close to them so they can speak, then move on the enemy. Attack either the north or south group first. Once it is destroyed, take out the other group. Partway through the second group a third group will appear on the beach. Clean up what's left of the original forces, then move on the new group. Once all three groups are dead, and assuming you spoke with Orochimaru and Hototogisu, you will add both as new partymembers. |==================================| | Section 3.2.34 [PURE] Pure Heart | |==================================| Mission Level: 5 Prerequisites: Recruit Anita, Kiratt, Rato, and Rimm Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: Retreat of former Meimai Kingdom general Enemy Units: Dm Archer x5, Dm Sorcerer x2, Dm Swordsman x3, Dm Warrior x6 Mission Chest: Armor Fragment The conditions of defeat for this mission includes your former Meimai generals, not just Folt and Tina, so if you lose Anita, Kiratt, Rato, or Rimm it's game over. Attack the archers first, as they are blocking your path. Once you have killed four of them, demon reinforcements will arrive, again blocking your path. Tina and Folt should be fine handling the swordsman, but once the warriors appear you need to take some of the heat. Once the last of the demons goes down, Folt and Tina will join the party. |=====================================| | Section 3.2 [KING] Kingdom Missions | |=====================================| When initially building your reputation with a nation, all ten kingdoms offer the same general missions. Each will offer between two to four at a time, forcing you to complete them in order to open other ones. The Army of Flauster is the first of the ten kingdoms you can take work from. All of these missions lead to destroying either the Elf Alliance or the Meimai Knights. You should beat a few of the hunting missions before taking these on to build up your levels a bit. The New Overlord Army is the faction led by Jadou and they serve as the primary antagonists for much of the game. You can, however, still take jobs from them once you complete Supply Lines in the Desert. The Elf Alliance is a political alliance between the forest and dark elves. It will be destroyed before you can take any missions from them. After they are destroyed, you can recruit Primrose, Margaret, Regal Lily, and Lillia Ple from their ranks. The Meimai Knights will, like the Elf Alliance, be destroyed before you can take any jobs from them. You can recruit Anita, Kiratt, Rimm, Tina, and Folt from their ranks after their destruction. The Underworld Army has been dispatched by Mugen, lord of the Underworld, to destroy the mortal world. They are led on the mortal plane by Break. They are a good early choice to take on because of both their lack of unique officers and if they are destroyed before the Nameless Army you can recruit Break. The nation of Muromachi is an Eastern themed army. Hiro initially begins as an officer of Muromachi. They are led by Simba and employ samurai and monks in battle. The nation of Espiloia is composed of heroes from the previous war. The Shilineeg Knights are an order of religious warriors. The Malimar Knights are a race of sentient cats in the southwest of the continent. After defeating the Elf Alliance, many of their officers will align with the Malimar Knights. The Nameless Army is similar to the Underworld Army in that destroying it before the Underworld Army will result in recruiting different characters. Personally I think it is easier to start with the Underworld Army, then move to the Elf Alliance, but either way this is not a bad place to begin. Move on Starina's group first. Send someone around the upper path to her party and kill the priest before he starts healing his elven friends. Next hit Starina herself, then the soldiers. With her out of the way, move on Faberge and his group. Kill the priest first, then Faberge, and lastly the soldiers. For the last group, attack Azerea first. She can heal the others and will prevent forward progress until you eliminate her. At about a third of her health she will flee. Next take out the two soldiers. Finally finish off Iceberg to claim the victory. |=================================================| | Section 3.2.12 [MEKN] Attack the Meimai Knights | |=================================================| Mission Level: 2/4 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders Meimai Knights Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Anita, Folt, Kiratt, Knight x6, Rato, Rimm, Tina Chest Items: Blade Orb, Gunpowder, Pierce Stone, White Soul The Meimai Knights are all bunched together, but thankfully they prefer to send their forces at you in waves. Most likely the first wave will consist of two knights, Anita, and Kiratt. Defeat them as you move forward to face a second wave, this one cosisting of two more knights, Rimm, and Rato. Take them out, but make sure you do not get too close to the main group to avoid getting their attention before you have finished off the second wave. With the second wave defeated, move on the main group. Once Tina is down to about a quarter of her health, both her and Folt will flee, leaving only the knights left to deal with. Kill them to move on. |==================================================| | Section 3.2.13 [UNDW] Attack the Underworld Army | |==================================================| Mission Level: 2/4/6 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders Underworld Army Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Camisia, DM Archer x2, DM Swordsman x2, Gigas, Zombie x6 Chest Items: Battle Orb, Crystal The Underworld Army is one of the easier forces to attack early in the game. Although they have a very powerful commander in the form of Gigas, their second commander is much easier to deal with. Couple this with a map laid out in a very sequential manner and you have a battle with plenty of time between combat to heal. Your forces begin this mission split. Bring the force that is further away from the zombies to the other group. At the same time, do not move this group, but let the zombies approach you. Once they are close enough, run forward and kill what you can before they can respond. When the other group arrives, wipe out the zombies. With the zombies gone, move around Camisia and Gigas and attack the group of demons. Take out whoever comes up next in turn order first, effectively cutting their ability to attack off. Once all four are dead, the two zombies beside the two Underworld Army commanders should come at you on their own. Kill them as they approach. That will only leave Gigas and Camisia. Gigas is the bigger threat, so focus on him first. Once he falls, Camisia will go down with little effort. At level four attacking Camisia or Gigas will prompt Break to appear along with six dark knights, prolonging the battle slightly. At level six two more unique generals will appear, varying based upon which nations have been destroyed. Apparently not all the generals manage to escape your exploits alive. |========================================| | Section 3.2.14 [MURO] Attack Muromachi | |========================================| Mission Level: 2/4/6 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders New Muromachi Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Afran, Diph, Foot Soldier x2, Hiro, Key Falon, Muromachi Monk x2, Muromachi Sldr x3, Ninja x2, Rifleman x2 Chest Items: Do not attempt this mission unless you are level forty or higher. If you don't believe me, then do attempt it and discover why Hiro is a secret character... The Muromachi do not seem to do much initially, so approach either side and try to get up to them. This will prompt Hiro to appear on the second level platform you approach with her own band of soldiers. Depending on your party make-up, you may get different conversation scenes. Hiro will most likely demolish a good portion of your party if you are not level forty, but she will flee after taking a few hits. |=======================================| | Section 3.2.15 [ESPA] Attack Espiloia | |=======================================| Mission Level: 4/6 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders the Knights of Espiloia Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Glomyu, Gray, Hm Archer x4, Hm Priest x3, Hm Sorcerer x3, Hm Swordsman x4, Knight x3, Luche, Radui, Ryuhein, Zabbroy Chest Items: Evil Fingerbone, Mercury Ore If you destroyed the Meimai Knights you will recognize Ryuhein here, now in the service of the Knights of Espiloia. The map here is set up in such a way that your route is already chosen for you. Move on Ryuhein and Glomyu, then to Gray and Luche (and Zabbroy), and lastly to Radui. After defeating the first group, Radui will order Luche to get reinforcements. Luche will vanish until you defeat all of Gray's men. She will reappear with Zabbroy, three sorcerers, and three priests. Zabbroy can heal herself, making her the bigger threat. Radui will not move until you touch down on to the grass he is standing on, so use that to your advantage. |========================================| | Section 3.2.16 [SHIL] Attack Shilineeg | |========================================| Mission Level: 4/6 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders the Knights of Espiloia Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Clefa, Guriza, Holy Knight x3, Knight x6, Hm Priest x3, Hm Sorcerer x3, Meufa, Regain, Shizufa, Yohwan Chest Items: n/a The Knights of Shilineeg offer slightly less unique characters than most of the other kingdoms in the initial fray, and as such offer slighty less oppositon. Your party is probably strong enough that you can split your forces and handle both sides of the fountain at once. If not, move to one side and fight as quickly as you can before the other side starts attacking you. When you are ready, step on to the main path to the temple doors to aggro the group of priests and Meufa and Yohwan. If you have living waters, it is entirely possible to kill all five of them before they can even move if you are over level twenty-five. Irregardless, when Meufa is below half health she will flee and Guriza will appear where you started with three knights, three holy knights, and Regain. Mop up whatever is left by the temple door and move back to the geomancy point. Wait for them to come around the fountain, plating Diaz on the geomancy point, and hit them as they do. Use earth guardian as much as possible and you should be able to pick them off as they try and squeeze through the narrow path. |=======================================| | Section 3.2.17 [FLAU] Attack Flauster | |=======================================| Mission Level: 4/6 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders Flauster Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Hm Archer x8, Hm Priest x2, Hm Swordsman x2, Ryuhein, Ziluon Mission Chest: Gold Dust I do not recommend taking this mission as weakening and destroying Flauster will gain you no new recruitment options. If you wish to do so, however, you will find they are one of the easier attacking missions due to their low number of unique generals. You start off in a very bad location, however, with archers above you. If you have them, use characters with jump levels of two so you can get up to the enemy archers. Your own archers and gunners can also help to hit them. Those who cannot get up to the archers will have to eventually make their way all the way around the plateau and climb up near the generals. With Shiform defeated, Fuya will move on you, so take his party out next. After you take out these two groups, or sometimes while you are in the process of doing so, Malimar will call for reinforcements and get ten hiyokos. This can be problematic if you have not built up your morale high enough to unleash some large teamwork and assist combos, so it is critical that you do so while you fight Shiform and Fuya. Adding more trouble, Starina will almost certainly attack at the same time. If you get through the hiyokos and Starina, the rest should not be too much trouble. Just mop up Malimar and Nyan for the win. |============================================| | Section 3.2.20 [NAME] Attack Nameless Army | |============================================| Mission Level: 4/6 Prerequisites: Kingdom offering the job borders the Nameless Army Victory Conditions: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Al, Bam Bam, Chicol, Hm Archer x6, Hm Sorcerer x4, Hm Swordsman x6, Wave Chest Items: Angel Feather, Burning Fluid, Lead Ore, Proof of Trial Start with the group that does not have any unique characters in it. It is a little difficult to approach them since there is only a small gap that you can move through, so send someone with high defense in first to take the brunt of their initial attacks. Move on the group led by Bam Bam and Wave. Wave is by far the bigger threat here, so gain up on him. At about a third of his health he will flee, allowing you to move on Bam Bam. The last group is led by Al. As you might guess, Al is the biggest threat but she is not nearly as powerful as Wave. With the defeat of this last group, the mission will end. |==================================================| | Section 3.2.21 [DEF1] Destroy the Elf Alliance 1 | |==================================================| Mission Level: 2 Prerequisites: Miilitary power of the Elf Alliance is zero Victory Conditons: Arrive at the gates of the enemy's castle / Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Azerea, D. Elf Sldr x2, Elf Priest x2, Elf Sldr x8, Faberge, Iceberg, Lilia Pie, Margaret, Primrose, Starina Chest Items: Empty Shell, Green Soul, Magic Orb Initially there's only one way to go, so move on the soldiers on the bridge and take them out. Once you do, attack Azerea. When she reaches about half of her health, both her and Iceberg will flee. End your turn standing on the exit to start a brief scene, after which Lilia Pie, Primrose, Faberge, Starina, and Margaret will appear where your forces began, along with a handful of other enemy units. Ideally you want to kill the priests as quickly as possible, but in all liklihood you will have to kill the soldiers first as they move faster. Make sure you put Diaz on the geomancy line at the edge of the bridge so you can use Earth Guardian every turn on the approaching elvish forces. When the regular units are destroyed, or mostly destroyed, focus on Margaret and Lilie Pie first. When the two archer commanders are gone, defeat Primrose, then Starina and whatever stragglers might be left. Once all enemies are gone, you will move on to the second part of the mission. |==================================================| | Section 3.2.22 [DEF2] Destroy the Elf Alliance 2 | |==================================================| Mission Level: 2 Prerequisites: Complete Destroy the Elf Alliance 1 Victory Conditons: Eliminate all enemies Conditions of Defeat: All allies are defeated Enemy Units: Azerea, D. Elf Sldr x2, Elf Priest x2, Elf Sldr x2, Faberge, Iceberg, Lilia Pie, Margaret, Primrose, Prominent, Regal Lily, Starina Chest Items: Blue Soul, Moon Fang, Pierce Stone The soldiers on either side of the throne room will march towards you from the get-go, so meet them at the crossroads and take them out before moving further in. If step on the raised area down either of the paths next, Margaret or Lilie Pie (depending on which one you approach) will charge in to get you. Lure them one at a time to where you fought the soldiers and take them out. Now kill both of their associated priests before moving towards the central platform. Pick either Prominent or Regal Lily and focus your forces on them. While you do so, Primrose and Starina will probably march on your position. If they do, stop attacking Prominent or Regal Lily and take both of the spellcasters out. Once they are finished, defeat both Prominent and Regal Lily. With the death of Starina, Azerea and her party will move on you. If your forces are somewhat split up, hers will follow suit. Azarea is your primary concern as she can heal, followed by Iceberg as his attacks are more devestating than Faberge's. By now you should have curing prayers equipped to all your magic users, but if not do so before starting this mission to avoid this untimely fate. Once the first four vampires are dead, eight more will appear along with their leader, Grouse. They will all get a turn immediately, so be prepared for four attacks against your magic users as soon as you finish off the fourth vampire.
