I N T R O D U C T I O N | 8888888-------------------------------------------------------------------- 8888 8888 If you clicked this file, chances are you're looking for some help in the wonderful, fun and awesome game Kirby Super Star Ultra! Am I not correct? Maybe you want to know how to get that cool treasure in the Great Cave Offensive. Maybe you want to know just exactly how to beat that Meta Knight! And maybe you only just want to know how to unlock Milky Way Wishes. Well look no farther! This guide has all you could ever need and probably even more than that! Err, maybe that's not exactly what you wanted. Perhaps you wanted to know a bit more about me. Well, that's easy. I'm your local Kirby expert who, out of the goodness of my heart, decided to help out all the floundering souls on the GameFAQs message boards. See, they were having lots of trouble, and since I had already mastered the game back in the good old days of SNES, decided to make a guide for this. What's that you say? You've never heard of me before? ....Impossible! ,,.Or, maybe, not so impossible. I guess I'm not that famous, I wrote a whole bunch of guides back in the early days, but, looking back on them, I'm not really too proud of them. This will mark my first real FAQ, and hopefully many more are to come! Hmm? About Kirby Super Star Ultra? Simply the finest in the genre of platforming. Kirby at his greatest. If you want the truth though, it's actually a remake of the classic Kirby Super Star for the SNES. For the most part, it was the same as Ultra, but with less features. Maybe you're wondering if you should shell out thirty dollars to pay for this game. Depends, my friend, depends...if you've played a Kirby game, you should know that this game is much better than all the other ones, and great fun multiplayer as well. It's probably worth the purchase, but for those Kirby veterans who played the original, I guess your decision making abilities would best be left alone... In this guide, you will find strategies, detailed and not-so-detailed walkthroughs, frequently and not-so-frequently asked questions, and probably some information on each of the sub-games included within this grand collection. Don't be intimidated by the Table of Contents, I don't think it will actually be as long as it looks to be...but I guess we'll never know, will we? At least until you read it, huh? ...Heh. Don't worry, for the rest of the walkthrough I won't be as wordy. I'll try to restrain myself... And finally, without any more waiting (or page scrolling), here you are, in all its glory! ...The walkthrough! 8 88888 [0200] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 2.0. This must be the work of King Dedede! This game is easy fun! It's simple enough for new players to enjoy. Spring Breeze? What exactly is it? Long-time Kirby veterans may recognize it as sort of a remake on Kirby's very first game, Kirby's Dream Land. While not a carbon copy, it retains many of the same elements and levels. As it is the first game of Kirby Super Star, it is obviously quite easy and can be completed very quickly. Unlike Kirby's Dreamland for the Game Boy however, Spring Breeze is different in that you can obtain abilities, the levels are much shorter, and the difficulty has been really toned down. Still, that shouldn't turn you away, it's really quite fun and it serves as a good introduction to the game. When you start up the game, this is the only game available at the start. You do not have any requirements to unlock this game, but once you complete it you will unlock both the Dynablade sub-game and the Gourmet Race. 8 88888 [0502] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 5.2. King Dedede, your favorite evil penguin king of Dream Land has stolen all of the food from under the noses of the citizens! Kirby, always the hero sets off to regain the food from the gluttony of Dedede! Kirby jumps on his handy Warpstar and rides along on the Spring Breeze, starting his quest to save the starving people of his homeland! While it isn't exactly implied in this game, in the original Kirby's Dreamland, he had to get the Sparkling Stars back as well, as they are supposedly the main food source for the lazy Dream Land residents. You collect one at the end of each boss battle, although it doesn't really say what they're for in Spring Breeze. 8 88888 [0503] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 5.3. It's quite simple, actually. The first enemy you'll see is a Waddle Doo, so eat it and copy its ability. You can turn it into a helper if you want. Float over the hill, then drop down and defeat the Cappy. There's a door right here as well, and feel free to enter it if you want either a Maxim Tomato or the Cutter ability. Go right, beat up some Bronto Burts, jump the gap and hop onto the Warp Star. You'll be transferred to the second part of Green Greens, the forest area. Here, all you'll find is a Poppy Bro. Jr. But proceed right, and you'll face your very first mini-boss! ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: P O P P Y B R O S S R . | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Yeah, this guy is a joke. He has a few attacks, but he mainly just bounces | | around. He can bounce across the length of the screen, so be careful when | | you're on the ground. He'll also be throwing bombs in a very innacurate | | manner, so I doubt this would really bother you much. He will also skid | | across the ground, but he only goes for a short way. Occasionally, he'll | | throw three bombs at a time, and not just when he's low on health. It's | | actually very easy to defeat him, just use your whole arsenal of Beam | | attacks, preferably Wave Beam. He'll go down pretty fast. If you have a | | helper, the battle will be over even faster. However, if you have no | | ability, you can just suck up his bombs and spit them back at him for some | | good damage against him. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once Poppy Bros Sr. bites the dust, eat him for the valuable Bomb ability. Continue on right. Here, you'll see a few more Poppy Bro Jrs. One has bombs, and you can gain the bomb ability from him as well. Press B and down at the same time over the star blocks to blow open an entrance to the food hidden below. Your last obstacle is a Grizzo, a fat bear-type creature who has a lot of HP. Go in the door. It seems as if you are in a giant tree. You'll meet up with a Waddle Doo, and, as you go higher, another Grizzo. Break the star blocks to the left of him to get a free and easy 1-up. This section is actually quite short, just fly straight up, destroy the Waddle Dee and Cappy that are there, and enter the door. However, if you need to heal up first, break the star block to your right and grab the food at the bottom of the shaft. In the new area, head down the platforms to find the boss of Green Greens, Whispy Woods. ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: W H I S P Y W O O D S | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Pfft. You're facing a giant tree. And he's really, really easy. First | | attack he'll probably do is drop some apples at you. Three, to be exact. | | If you lost your ability, you can spit them back at him. His only other | | attack is spitting gusts of air at you, but if you stay close to him, they | | won't even touch you. Really. That's it. | | | | You can use just about any ability against him, and it'll do humungous | | damage to him. I reccomend using Bomb, it's a great ability and can | | dispose of Whispy Woods quickly. Just stage a non-stop assault of bombs | | against him and he'll be gone before you know it. The only thing you'll | | have to worry about is the apples he launches at you, but that's about it. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Success! Uh...wow. Whispy will start crying. Ah well! Grab the star, and once we're finished with the Kirby dance it's time for the next stage! 8 88888 [0532] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 5.3.2. Quickly eat him and gain the valuable Fighter ability. Float across the enemy-infested waters, beat up some beached Squishies and go in the door. After breaking some star blocks, of course. You're in this cavernous type area. Jump down into the pit to find a Kabu, a spinning and sorta creepy-looking head. Oh, and did I mention they can also teleport? If you're low on health, you can stock up on food items by breaking the star block to your left. Climb the ladder to the top, take care of the Kabu, and bust the star blocks on the rightthat are actually blocking out a not-so-secret door. Enter it. Here, you'll find an army of exploding coconuts plus a 1-up at the bottom of a pool of water. Swim to the bottom as to avoid the coconuts, then grab the 1-up and skedaddle. Back in the main room, jump down the shaft. Be careful though, at the bottom lies a Kabu and a Chilly. Inhale the Chilly if you want the Ice ability, but otherwise just break the star blocks. On the other side of them is a Gordo, an invincible spike ball - just run under it and into the door. Hello? What's this? It's Invincible Candy! It's a nifty little item that makes you temporarily invincible. Plow through the Burning Leos (you can eat them for the Fire ability), Gordos, and other assorted enemies until you reach a door built into a tower. Enter it to find the potentially dangerous Mr. Frosty! Oh, my! ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: M R . F R O S T Y | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | If you were fast enough, you'll still be invincible from the candy | | you ate back then. If this is the case, just run right into him and he'll | | explode. If not, then just read on. | | | | This guy is just a little more dangerous than all of the bosses you've | | fought previously. But really, not by much. His first move will probably | | be just jumping around. You can avoid it if you're at the top of the | | screen though. Sometimes he'll just make one big leap and crash down, | | leaving two stars for you to suck up if you have no ability. He'll also | | throw ice cubes at you which you can also use as ammo. If you get in his | | way while he's just walking along, he'll eat you...eew...and spit you out | | as a giant ice cube. Really, though, this guy is simple. Just use any | | attack against him, he has really low health. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- If you feel like it, you can assume his identity by eating him. It's a nice ability, that Ice, so I suggest taking it. Jump on the Warp Star, and yep, you guessed it, we're zooming off into the distance yet again. Well, we're on top of a castle. Castle Lololo, to be exact. Here we have a whole bunch of enemies, and you can swallow them for the abilities Crash, Sword, and Cutter, in order. Then, enter the door for another fun boss battle... ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: L O L O L O A N D L A L A L A | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | This time we're up against a team of two, and they each share a half of the | | boss lifebar. We've got three different platforms, and Lololo and Lalala, | | a male and female duo of blobs will comence their attack on you. They'll | | attempt to damage you by pushing blocks in your face. You can inhale them, | | but that's too much work. Best to have an ability and then move to the | | platform where they're not. Then, just jump up or down and hit them from | | behind. It works like a charm. It might take a while, but it's the best | | strategy. If you kill one of them before the other, it'll make things a | | lot easier. I used the Fighter ability against these guys, and it's | | probably the best. Once they both dissapear into the shadows at the end of | | each platform, they'll appear in random locations with new blocks. Be | | careful though, as they can sometimes be pushing Gordos. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once they're done for, grab the star! Okay kids, that's two of them! Only two more to go! 8 88888 [0533] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 5.3.3. B U B B L Y C L O U D S | 8888888-------------------------------------------------------------------- 8888 8888 ----------------------------------------------- | Enemies: Blade Knight, Bronto Burt, | | Cappy, Grizzo, Hennie, Lovely, | | Mike, Noddy, Parasol Waddle Doo, | | Poppy Bro Jr., Rocky, Scarfy, | | Shotzo, Simirror, Sir Kibble, | | Waddle Dee, Waddle Doo | | Mini-Bosses: Kracko Jr., Bonkers | | Bosses: Kracko | ----------------------------------------------- You'll appear in a cloudy area to find yourself surrounded by a Bronto Burt, a Shotzo and a Blade Knight. I suggest swallowing the Blade Knight, as it has a pretty useful ability. Avoid the shots from the cannon and head right through the passage. There's a Scarfy and a Shotzo here. Beware of the Scarfy, if you try to inhale it, he'll turn evil and chase you. If you need any more health, jump over the Shotzo and collect the food. Head in the door. Here you'll find three enemies, all which have an ability, so take one if it strikes your fancy. Fly up to the platform and ignore the spikes. At the top of a slope you'll find a harmless Waddle Dee along with a Sir Kibble. Dispose of them both and head for the door. In this small room, you'll see some enemies flying by and some food protected by Hennies. When you come near, they'll fly after you. Personally, I just ignored them and ran for the door. However, once you go in it, well... ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: K R A C K O J R . | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | This little guy is actually the boss of the level, only on a much smaller | | scale. He has a few attacks to speak of, but the main problem you'll be | | having is the fact that he's in the air. Use an ability with good air | | capabilities, Sword is pretty good on this guy. If you have no ability | | though, eat one of the bombs or Waddle Doos he throws at you. | | | | To attack you, he'll either weave across the screen and then run along the | | ground or drop bombs on you. To avoid the first attack, run to the bottom- | | left corner of the screen and just wait there. The second one can be | | avoided in the same way. He'll also randomly shoot out a Waddle Doo that | | will just...waddle towards you. This guy is easy. If you have Sword, | | he'll fall real fast. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Jump on the Warp Star that will appear. You'll find yourself in a pool of water. Swim out of it, eat the Mike if you want, and head right. It's a wall of star blocks! Hopefully you still have the Sword ability, as then you can chop right through the blocks and the enemies inside. There's also a 1-up and a bit of food in there too. If you have no ability you can always just use puffs of air to break the block. Once the wall is demolished, head right and fly around the evil flowers, who will wickedly try to eat you. Avoid them or kill them off, then float up the narrow shaft to your right. Up here is a Poppy Bro Jr. with a bomb, so copy it's ability if you want. If you need it, drop down off the ledge to find a Maxim Tomato. But be careful, as it's on a ledge that will break apart once you land on it. Head through the door. In this room, you're standing on a few blocks, and above there's a bunch of clouds. The ones dead ahead have two Sir Kibbles on them. Take care of them or leave them up to your helper, then continue onwards. Some Parasol Waddle Doos will float down and then drop their parasols in exchange for their beams. Once they're done for, take either side up, they're both the same. Here you'll find two Rockys, which can probably just be ignored. Now, here you have a choice - you can take the shorter path to the boss by simply entering the door, or you can float up to the moon and press up to be whisked away to a kinda secret area. Be careful though, as a Grizzo will drop down from above. If you entered the moon room, you'll fall down from the sky an awfully long ways. You'll run into several food items along the way, plus a 1-up. If you miss it, you can always just fly back up to get it. At the bottom of the room, you'll find a Bonkers, a hammer mini-boss. Oh, and a Noddy, too. ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: B O N K E R S | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | So you want to fight Bonkers! Okay, whatever. You're up against this | | monkey. Or ape. He has a bunch of hammer attacks, and they look kind of | | like Dedede's. But you haven't fought him yet, so never mind. He'll also | | throw coconuts at you. The best strategy is fast and furious. At least in | | this case. If you do that, he's easy. If you still have the Sword | | ability, then good job! You can now kill him really fast and really | | easily. Just mash B and he's dead! Well, you may get hurt, but whatever. | | You don't need a whole lot of health to fight Kracko. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- You actually don't need to fight Bonkers, he's completely optional. But you can beat him for Hammer, a powerful ability. Do whatever, then go in the door. ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: K R A C K O | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Kracko is like Kracko Jr. 2.0. He has most of the same attacks, the Waddle | | Doo drop and the one where he flies around, but he's bunches harder. Once | | he drops a Waddle Doo, he'll do one of two things - either rain on you | | (this is easy to avoid), or shoot lightning across the whole screen (just | | fly over him when he does this). His last attack is a Beam ability-style | | lightning attack where he makes two beams to circle him temporarily. The | | Waddle Doos can also be a bit annoying, so defeat them if at all possible. | | | | He's airborne, so good abilities would be Hammer or Sword. Hammer works | | great, if you got it from Bonkers before battle. But be careful - touch | | Kracko and you'll be electrocuted. Remember, only his eye is vulnerable, | | the cloud part is safe to touch. Hey, he's not really that hard, is he? | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once you beat him, the third star is yours! Kirby busts in on his Warpstar, busting walls and squashing enemies on the way. As you enter, there's a Rocky to your left and a bomb-chucking Poppy Bro Jr. to your right. And farther on there's a Waddle Doo and a Parasol Waddle Dee. So, you have four abilities to choose from, but I prefer the Bomb ability myself. You should probably take it as well, unless you have something better in mind. Well, it's battle time, finally. Kirby whisks Castle Dedede off over the sea while some blink-and-you-miss-it credits scroll by. As the credits conclude and our beautiful scene with Kirby against a sunset finishes, we see the Kirby ballon pop, but the castle is still held up by the cool powers of the four stars Kirby collected. More food than you can imagine rains down from the heavens, while Kirby does that cute little dance he does so well in front of an applauding audience of Waddle Dees. Five stages of adventure await. Perfect your copy and helper skills! After you complete at least one level of Spring Breeze, this game will be unlocked. Gameplay based, it isn't at all different than Spring Breeze. But the game is much longer than Spring Breeze, and with new stages, secrets and bosses, this particular game should keep you busy for a while. In all honesty, the game is not a lot harder than Spring Breeze, so I doubt you'd have much difficulty completing it. The main difference, I guess, is the game's map feature, something featured in only one other game. With it you can backtrack easily to whatever level you'd like. Another nice thing about it is that there are two secret rooms, filled with all the abilities in the game. Nice, eh? In this game, Dyna Blade, a huge rainbow-colored bird is destroying all the crops. And guess who's having to save the day? Yeah, you guessed it. Kirby. There is only one true boss for this mode, and that's Dyna Blade. But there are several mini-bosses to fight, and they appear both in levels and out. Eh....Dynablade. Definitely not the best Kirby Super Star has to offer, but it's still a fun and quick game. 8 88888 [0602] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 6.2. Devestation everywhere. Kirby wakes up, and hey, he's not happy that his nap was interrupted. So he looks around, and he sees everything destroyed. This probably isn't very good. A feather falls from the sky, and that explains everything - there's a giant evil bird who's stealing the crops and being mean to flowers, and Kirby has to save the day by beating her up! Let's go! 8 88888 [0603] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 6.3. W A L K T H R O U G H | 8888888-------------------------------------------------------------------- 8888 8888 So, you're starting off on this map screen! Cool! There's five stages to this game, with the last one being Dyna Blade's Nest. You can retrace your steps by just moving back. Every once in a while, you'll spot a mini-boss on the map and she'll follow you until you're forced to fight her. It's not hard though, and you'll get a 1-up for your efforts! Also, after each stage you'll enter into a bonus game where you try to shoot yourself out of a cannon to score 1-ups. When the bar's at it's highest, hit the A button. While it's a bit risky, if you get it perfect you'll get three extra lives. For now though, just hit A to start the first stage. 8 88888 [0631] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 6.3.1. P E A N U T P L A I N S | 8888888-------------------------------------------------------------------- 8888 8888 ----------------------------------------------- | Enemies: Bronto Burt, Broom Hatter, | | Crasher, Gordo, Grizzo, Kabu, | | Lovely, Noddy, Parasol Waddle | | Dee, Poppy Bro Jr., Sir Kibble, | | Waddle Dee, Waddle Doo | | Mini-Bosses: Chef Kawasaki | ----------------------------------------------- You'll find yourself balancing on a bunch of wooden platforms. Drop down the right side, taking care to watch out for the Sir Kibble. Head through the door. Right away you'll see a Parasol Waddle Dee coming at you. Beat it or eat it, then smash some other generic enemies and the Waddle Doo walking along the elevated platform. Fly up, then continue on for a while. This place is pretty linear. Fly over some star blocks and the encased Sir Kibble until you reach some water. Fly over it and watch as several enemies self-destruct. The next body of water has a collapsable bridge, just run over it. There's more of the same over here. Run up the slope and fall down the shaft by standing on the self-destructing blocks. Grab the food under the Gordo, then speed up the slope and go in the door. In this room, go up the ladder. There's a 1-up in there, but to get it out you'll need an ability that can go through walls, either Beam or Parasol. Release the Gordo, then head up the ladder. Hit the bomb block with your head, grab the food, and continue along. The Kabus up here can get pretty annoying, with all that teleporting. Keep going up until you find a door. Go in it to find a couple enemies, a Maxim Tomato and a Sword ability pedestal. Take what you'd like, then head back out. Move up, but before you go through the next door, keep going up. There's a couple enemies up here, but more importantly, there's a Maxim Tomato and a 1-up protected by a Gordo. Drop back down, and break through the bomb block to get to the door. Now, we're in this big room. Head right and you'll find a bunch of enemies holed up in cubby holes. But ignore them and head left and up a hill. Here, there's two Lovelys, the flower enemies. And they're protecting some Invincible Candy! Grab it and go, man, go! Fly up and over some hills blocking you. Now there's two paths you can take, the one that opens after you break the bomb block below you (you can break it with the Sword ability) and the path to the right of that. The right one takes a lot less time. The one through the bomb block has a bunch of enemies and food in it, so take whichever one you want. Regardless of where you went, head up the ladder at the end. Next to a big pit you'll find a Crasher, eat it if you want an easy time with this next boss. Whatever...head down the pit and run right after getting your Maxim Tomato and prepare to battle! ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: C H E F K A W A S A K I | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Chef Kawasaki is, as you probably guessed, a chef. If you want to beat him really easily, just use the Crash | | ability to kill him in one hit. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Eat him for the nifty Cook ability, and then head right to find a bunch of enemies to use Cook on. You'll recover a lot of health, if you lost any. Okay, we're done here. Plow through them and go through the door. In here, you'll find a Blade Knight. Copy his ability because it's cool. And there's a door right here. You can go in it to fight a completely optional fight...that is...if you really want to... ------------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: M E T A K N I G H T ' S A R M Y | ------------------------------------------------------------- --------------- | | | Go in the door to find a bunch of the crew members from Meta Knight's army. | | First you'll be dealing with a flying dude with a trident and an Axe | | Knight. Now you just have to wonder to yourself | | why you put yourself through that! | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Move right and beat up a Sir Kibble. Move past the ladder. Do you see those star blocks down there? You can break them plus the bomb block if you have the Sword ability. Then, just head through the door to your right. Inside, you'll find Bio Spark, who you can eat for the Ninja ability. After this, pass through the platform and swim down to the 1-up. Break the bomb block and go back up, then go back out to the previous room. This time, head up the ladder. There's an annoying enemy up here who will place bombs by the top of the ladder and then run off - just avoid his bombs and kill him off. Head left. Here, you'll find a couple of Simirrors. Inhale one of them to get the Mirror ability, then use it to hit the bomb block that is sealed up. You'll reveal a secret door. So, by all means, enter it! In here, the only thing you'll find is a giant switch. Step on it to open up a path to Trial Room 1! Hurrah! If you want more info, scroll down to the 'Secret Areas' portion of the Dyna Blade guide. Back in the main room, proceed to the left. You'll find some food items in a corner here. Go up the ladder. There's another Sir Kibble and Jungle Bomber up here. Just go in the door. Eep! We're in a room, and it's scrolling. If you don't get moving, you'll be squished. We don't want that, so dash forward and break the blocks with any ability. There's a whole bunch of Sir Kibbles and falling coconuts, so just try to avoid them. Break all the star blocks in your way. Float up the shaft and grab the food along the way, then drop down and break through a whole mess of blocks and Noddys until you reach the Warp Star. We're outta here! We're back in the castle, but it's only a short room. Kill the Cappy, then exit through the door. As soon as you enter the room, inhale the Wheelie and gain the Wheel ability. This is a room designed for that ability. If you want, turn Wheel into a helper and ride him around. Roll forward, destroying every enemy you meet. once you drop off the cliff, bank left and break the bomb block. Grab the Maxim Tomato and 1-up before the spikes appear. Go right some more, detroying more enemies and bomb blocks. Eventually, though, you'll meet up with... ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: B O N K E R S | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Remember Bonkers from Spring Breeze? This is the same guy. He'll throw | | coconuts and run after you, same as usual. You've probably still got the | | Wheel ability. You can beat him with it, if you're careful. Or, you could just inhale his | | coconuts and spit them back at him. Your choice. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once he's defeated, inhale Bonkers for the Hammer ability. Go right and into the door. In the next room, there's some free food along with a peg at the bottom. Pound it with your hammer to reveal a secret doorway with three 1-ups inside it. Alright! Go in the door to end the level. 8 88888 [0633] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 6.3.3. Go in the door. Avoid the Gordo by flying over him, then swallow the Plasma Wisp (or not) for a nice ability. There's also a Crasher teetering on a ledge; take care of him or he'll make a huge explosion once he hits the ground. There's another Gordo and Crasher up ahead. Just do the same thing as last time. Break the bomb block and fly through the gap it makes. There's some more bomb blocks here, but the one you want to worry about is the one that's blocking off the door from you. Go in it to find two Gordos, a Maxim Tomato and a 1-up. Break the star blocks leading to the goodies, but try not to release the Gordos. Go back and this time take the door to your right. We're now in a rather windy room. Plow through the enemies in your way, and grab the Beam or Stone ability if you want. Here's where things get a little dangerous, there's a bunch of spikes and some annoying Kabu too. Just fly over it all and hope the Kabu doesn't run into you. Run right and jump over the hole in the path. Go in the door. Here, there's a couple of Rockys. I suggest you take their ability. So do just that, then jump to the right and you'll start sliding. It'll take a while, but you'll squash every enemy in your way while sliding down the hill as a rock. There's also some food. Pretty soon though, you'll see a Gim, the yo-yo enemy. He has a great ability, so grab it if you can. Break the bomb block with it and go through the door. ...Wow! Food! Break the bomb block to release it, but be careful as you also just destroyed the ground! The food will stay floating, but the 1-up will fall into a bottomless pit, so be quick if you want it! Head back out the door. Head right and we're back on the long slope. If you have Yo-yo, use your Dash + B attack to wipe out the enemies. Soon you'll come to a cave full of lava. Float through it and hope you don't get hurt too much. Your helper, if computer controlled, will be - let me put this bluntly - wasted. Usually. Go through the door. Now that we're done with the lava, it's time for something a little colder. There's a bunch of Chillys here, but I reccomend keeping with your original ability. Continue on through the passage until you find a bomb block with food under it! Break it with the Yo-yo ability to get at it. Ah, and avoid the Poppy Bro. Bust through the star blocks and decend down the ladder. Here, just jump on the little sleds...or whatever they are to be propelled forward. Do the same to the next one, and the one after that...now, go up the ladder but avoid the cannons. Now, just jump on the Warp Star. We're off to yet another area... Besides the two enemies, this place seems pretty empty. But up ahead, you'll come face to face with a giant bug! Yipes! ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: B U G Z Z Y | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Bugzzy? Since he | | has the Suplex ability, he'll often charge forward and attempt to grab him. | | When you see him flashing, jump over him or he'll pound you. He can also | | fly through the air, and he'll attempt to land on you if you're near | | enough. | | | | To beat him, I suggest using long-range attacks. You can find a Knuckle | | Joe right before you fight this guy, and if you got the Fighter ability | | from him, he won't be too hard. He does have a lot of health, though. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once he is vanquished, eat him for an awesome ability. Really... Where do these guys get these names, anyway? Go right and you'll encounter a BURNING LEO! Eat it if you want the Fire ability, but otherwise just get a move on. There's some Shotzos over here that will try to take a shot at you, but you can drop them into several convenient placed holes by breaking the star blocks holding them up. Up ahead there's a platform you can drop through. Do just that. Down here, you'll find a hidden cache of food. Go back up and pummel more enemies. To your right is a waterfall of sorts, and in it are a bunch of watermelons. Again, you now have two paths to take - either the one you can get at by going down the wall of water or the path you can take by going through it and popping out the other side. If you go down when you hit the water, you'll find yourself in a pond with two Gordos and a Shotzo firing at you! Avoid them, then move right and break the bomb block. Head up the chain, avoid the birds, then go into the door. Here, there's a bunch of cannons. Jump in the first one and get shot up. Now, you have to control this one manually. Fire straight up, then float up and go right some more. Here, there's some star blocks - if we want a bunch of 1-ups, then get the Fire ability, and aim the fire down at the star blocks. Now, use your Dash + B attack to fireball straight through the Gordos on each level. Do this a bunch of times, then grab the three 1-ups. Back up top, proceed right and burn through the enemies. Go in the door. However, if you took the other path, the path you take by going through the water and coming out the other side, you'll find yourself in an odd little room. Here, just fly straight up and around the bends, avoiding the enemies along the way. After you go around the bend, go left and into the little notch in the wall. Grab the Hammer ability, then go back down and hit the peg here. Go in the cannon, and you'll eventually find yourself at a 1-up. Go right and into the door. Regardless of which path you took, you'll find yourself in this area here. There's a Birdon, a couple of Lovelys and a Slippy here. If you have Fire, burn right through them, and if you have Hammer, spin right through them. Go up to find another Birdon and a Scarfy. To the left there's a body of water. Go in it and head to the bottom. Break the bomb block to fill more of the area with water, then grab the Invincible Candy. Go straight up, destroying everything you see. Break the bomb block to release more water. Break the other bomb block above you to release even more water and reveal a door. Go in it! This here's a cannon room. Get the Fire ability from the Burning Leo on your right, then light the fuse and scrable for the cannon. Hop in to be blasted off to an area with several food items and a 1-up! Cool beans! Before you go anywhere in the next area, head left to find a kinda secret door. Here, there's a giant switch concealing the second Trial Room! All right! Grab the Copy ability if you want, then head back out. This room is awful. There are TACs, the cat burglars, everywhere. Do not hit the bomb block or the whole place will erupt into lava, making things hard to navigate. There's also a few Crashers here to annoy you. Head all the way to the right, then go up and go all the way to the left. Now, up on the next level, the blocks are breakable, and if you or an enemy attack it, it'll turn into lava! Keep going up until you see the water. Now, you can break the bomb block here - it'll uncover the 1-up but also create a bunch of lava. Do whatever, then go in the door. There's a few Mikes in this area. Copy them if you want, it's a pretty handy ability as up above there are tons of Scarfys. Just keep climbing, weaving left and right until you reach the top. Eat the food, then go in the door. This room is a room full of mini-boss fights. Get ready to battle... ------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: M R . If you want a really | | detailed strategy, head back to that spot in the guide and read it. You | | could also go down and read the strategy in the mini-bosses section of the | | guide. Anyway, to beat him, use any ability. I used Ice and I never let | | up. He died fast even though I took a little damage. Easy peasy. Eat him | | for the Hammer ability. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- I reccomend the Hammer ability for this next fight. Grab the tasty food, then get ready to fight two Poppy Bros. At the same time! Wild! ----------------------------------------------------------- | M I N I - B O S S: P O P P Y B R O . S R x 2 | ----------------------------------------------------------- ----------------- | | | Yeah, now we have two of them, but that doesn't make them any harder. If | | you team up with your helper you can take them out really fast. The Hammer | | ability is good for this fight. You can use the hammer's Up + B to kill | | them in no time. They'll both slide along the ground in this really small | | arena, and this is probably the worst of their attacks. You have to take | | care of both of them to win the battle, but I suggest taking them out one | | at a time. If you want a strategy more detailed, refer to the mini-boss | | section of the guide. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Once they're done with, just head through the door to the end of the level. 8 88888 [0635] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 6.3.5. Go in the door and choose an ability if you don't already have one. There's Cutter, Beam, Fire and Sword...I chose Sword because it's a good ability for fighting in the air. Jump on the Warp Star.... ------------------------------------------------------- | B O S S: D Y N A B L A D E | ------------------------------------------------------- --------------------- | | | Within a few seconds, Dyna Blade will appear. She's the hardest boss | | you've faced as of yet, but don't let that intimidate you. Starting off, | | she'll fly up and land on a random side of the area. Don't get under her | | when she's landing. Trust me. When she drops to the ground, two stars | | appear that you can spit back at her. She has two attacks on the ground. | | Either she'll spit several...puffs of air at you that will somehow burn you | | or she'll rear back her head and snap her head at you with her elastic | | neck. Then she'll probably fly up, and either drop back down or fly across | | the screen. Avoid this, or she'll grab you in her talons and do humungous | | damage. Last but not least, she might fly up off screen. When she does | | this, she'll drop back down, and then go straight up again. This time, | | she'll do that coming-from-the-background thing that she did at the | | beginning of the fight - but this time you have to guard against it as | | you'll take damage this time. | | | | To beat her, just have a good ability that's either long-range or has good | | arial abilities. Sword or Bomb would work good, and you can pick whatever | | you want if you have both Trial Rooms unlocked. You won't hurt her if you | | attack her anywhere but on her head. Her body will still hurt you if you | | collide with it, though. | | | ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- Congradulations! Once you beat her, you're done with the game! 8 88888 [0636] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 6.3.6. Seems she was just stealing crops to feed her kids. Kirby decides to make things right by taking the kids (nest and all) to good ol' Whispy Woods. He's more than happy to give the Dyna Blade Jrs some apples, and so Kirby shakes some down for a tasty treat for all the little guys. In the next scene, we see Kirby and the chicks just flying around. Kirby's finding out that this whole "Mom" buisness isn't all it's cracked up to be, when Dyna Blade returns! So, she's not dead after all! Huzzah! After making a solemn pledge never to ruin Dream Land's fun by destroying crops again (she says it, we just can't hear it), she zooms off into the sunset with her cute kids following behind her. Find all 60 treasures and get out safely! The Great Cave Offensive is one of the better games of Kirby Super Star Ultra, and it will take a while if you want to fully complete it. In this game, Kirby falls down a shaft leading into the center of the earth, and, just as Jules Verne imagined, it's a place of great scenery. And while the main purpose of the game is to just get Kirby out alive, there are also sixty treasure chests to gain unimaginable wealth from. Sounds cool already, hey? Some of the chests are in plain sight, but for most of them, you'll have to work hard for them. While with some of the treasures it seems that you need a secondary player to get them all, they can, in fact, all be gotten alone. With four areas filled with hard-to-get-at treasure, this game will challenge even the expert Kirbian. Well, maybe not, but still. The game is, in all actuallity, really, really, short, so if you want to get through the game with no treasures you'll be able to complete it in just a few minutes. Yeah, you heard me. There's never been a Kirby game better than this, and I just have to give a shout-out to them, well, because without them, there would be no walkthrough. And that would be just plain sad. Thanks to all those cool people on the GameFAQs message boards, even though I don't really know any of them, they're still great guys and have inspired me to write this amazing FAQ. Thanks, fellas! And, well, I'd put me in the credits for writing the FAQ, but that would just be way too cliche. ....there would be more, but nobody's really contributed anything else. 8 88888 [2104] 8888888888888----------------------------------------------------------------- 888888888 21.4.
