Beyond Good & Evil HD teaser trailer zooms into focus

Ubisoft's Beyond Good & Evil is one of those games that had all the elements of a classic, but instead found itself doomed to an eternity of appearing in "Top 10 games no one played" lists. Now, seven years since its release, Ubisoft is granting Jade and her pals another shot at stardom with the release of an HD remastered version that received its first teaser trailer today.

The remake will feature updated character models and textures, a remastered soundtrack, Trophies and Achievements, and apparently a heaping dose of green. It will also likely be a promotional lead-in for a full-on sequel. At least, that's what we're hoping.

Beyond Good & Evil HD will be available on the PSN and Xbox Live later this year.

I just replayed my Gamecube version of this game last year, and this new one doesn't look THAT much better. It would be nice to play it in English for once, though. My copy was only playable in either Dutch or French.

YES!! I found a copy of the game last year for the PS2 and when I played it on my PS3, I couldn't save! Thank you Ubisoft for putting this out for PSN!!

So, console players can now finally enjoy all the visual glory of ... a PC game from 2003? Seriously, what about these textures and character models is "updated", exactly?

New Rayman and this? Please let Ubi work on this sort of thing more. Oh, and the new SSX, even though not by Ubi, also looks like it might be good. *crosses fingers over new entries/remakes of excellent series, and yes, BG&E counts 'cause of 2*

So far, it looks to be a pretty naked port. The game itself was fantastic, but I was wishing for a bit more stuff, concept art at the very least if not a few more levels (though that wouldn't fit very well). I hope they dedicate themselves to the franchise enough to put a BG&E2 unlockable trailer at the end of the game a la the Sly 4 trailer. PS Seeing as how they gave out the soundtrack for free, they should make it unlockable either to play in the game or somehow download it to a USB drive. That's a bit convoluted, but all I want is to hear the music again, and for others to do so as well! Speaking of Ancel, here's hoping the new Rayman turns out as awesome as it looks.

Awesome, now console gamers get to play the pc version.

Cool, I only started this non the GC(dunno why) and never finished it before it got mysteriously broken so the second chance, and in HD too, to finish it off with a decent pad will be just the ticket. Dunno about the theory that it definitely means a sequel's on the cards, though, remember Sony porting the last PSP Syphon Filter to the P{S2? Everyone could only imagine such a pointless move was to get the franchise name back in our minds before the natural step of SF5 PS3-that hasn't ever appeared despite more rumours, mo cap actors with big mouths all saying it was coming. And Hip Hop Gamer, FFS!! Whatever, I'd still love to see both out sooner rather than later.

It's good to see they've taken a step forward from giving the game away free in boxes of French cereal.

I couldn't detect any particular improvements in looks tbh

Is it me or does it look EXACTLY the same?

That trailer is greener than a bunch of eco-freaks in a rainforest.

I really didn't think that game was all that good. The combat was uninspired, prince o' persia had better platforming, and mandatory stealth sections.

    Awesome! This game was fantastic.
