Beyond Good & Evil HD comes to PS3 in May

Xbox 360 users have been able to download the HD remake of Beyond Good & Evil since March 2, but PS3 owners will be able to join them soon as Ubisoft has just confirmed Beyond Good & Evil HD will be hitting the PlayStation Network in May.

Beyond Good & Evil wasn't a huge mega success for Ubisoft when it came out for PS2, Gamecube, and Xbox, but it did earn high praise and received numerous award nominations. This is an opportunity to not only let fans of the original play it again in high-def quality but also to let those who missed it the first time around to give it a shot.

The game is set hundreds of years in the future and it's up to protagonists Jade and Pey'j to expose and bring down an intergalactic crime ring. It's a third-person action-adventure game with a lot of colorful and imaginative imagery, peppered with puzzles and strategic mini-games.

In addition to a complete overhaul of the game's visuals, it also has online leaderboards and a full slate of achievements/trophies. There is also an updated soundtrack.

And since PS3 owners have to wait a bit longer than their Xbox 360 owning counterparts, Ubisoft is giving away a free PSN Avatar to anyone who downloads the game in the first two weeks after it goes on sale.

It's 10 bucks (800 points) on the 360. So you're most likely looking at a simple 10 dollar price tag.

Can anyone tell me the cost of this game on the XBLA? To get an idea of how will this cost on PSN. Thanks!

Just finished my copy for the original Xbox. Not gonna bother with HD, but it's great people will have a second chance to play it. @christat: BGE coming to PS3 is the point of the article. What are you complaining about? @Xifihas: Shit yeah, Phantasy Star IV!

Fuck you Ubisoft. I am not buying your game because you sold exclusivity to Microsoft. It's fucking bullshit.

Absolutely love this game. Little over half way in rerelease & everything is just how good I remember it being. Yes graphics are dated, but story, puzzles and gameplay are top notch.

Will it have a Retail release?, DLC stuff always annoys me, because if the system(s) bricks due to overheating and it's 12 or more years later, good luck getting it back, a Disc however, can be Replayed whenever I will it. tl:dr WILL IT HAVE A RETAIL RELEASE?

It's good that PS3 owners will get to experience this beautiful game. The visuals are striking, the soundtrack is supurb and the I was actually able to get emotionally invested in the story and characters, something that hasn't really happened since Phantasy Star 4. Every person who buys this increases the chances of us getting a sequel.

I already got it (and 100%'d it) for the 360, but I'm glad that PS3 owners get a shot at playing this too. So underrated. But what I really want is for Ubisoft to SAY ANYTHING ABOUT BEYOND GOOD AND EVIL 2!
